Les Miles fired....

Les needed to go... it was pretty obvious... the other option was for Les to do a good job, but that wasn't happening nor going to happen. It is clear LSU was regressing last year... they had personnel coming back... there is no excuse this year.

After 10-15 years, its about time for a change anyway... you see it over and over.

I agree with you. Of course people who don't care about how you guys are not competing will be upset with his firing. But I see why he was fired and believe it's his own fault. Like Kelly at Notre Dame stubbornly keeping his defensive coordinator too long may result in him losing his job. Head coaches should understand that they are, fairly or not, going to be treated differently thanks to Nick Saban and Alabama. Now a lot of people really believe that it's possible to basically buy a national championship.

Pretty much how I see it, this was an easy fire. It's pretty much one sided as far as the fans... he had to go whether you love him or not... tough love. I don't see why anyone should cry for Les nor is there a reason to feel like LSU got the raw end of the deal.

I don't like Lil Nicky, but he knows how to prepare a team, but to me that is not what I would ever want to see at LSU ever again. LSU has stated many times that Les's job was to compete for championship, not necessarily win them all. It is obvious they were not competing at a high enough level.... without Etling coming in I am suspect LSU would have beat Jacksonville State.

Of course, talking heads (talk radio) will blast LSU for not getting rid of him, than when they do... blast LSU for getting rid of him.... so they have something to talk about. Which is why I dumped cable. Les is still pretty much loved in BR, but getting rid of him was a very easy choice at this time.

Ic Houston gets in Big 12 Herman might stay there and wait for opening at Texas or USC. I think that Jimbo goes to LSU and then Lane goes to FSU.

Jimbo made sense last year, but from what I was told he might have burned the bridge. I don't know for sure on this one, but it was what I was told by several sources.

Bruce Feldman was on Finebaum yesterday and sounded well informed. He didn't think bridge was burned. He seemed to think a lot of LSu power base want Jimbo and that Jimbo would make that move. USC job could open up this year and I think Herman might get offered and take that job.

What did he say?

He said that he just enjoyed seeing his guys fight and claw to get in the end zone at the end of the game even if it was one second too late. Sorry, the LSU fans and administration were not satisfied with a touchdown one second too late, and one second later, they fired Miles, as it should be!

Jimbo left BR under very good terms, nobody wanted him to leave. Jimbo's buyout isn't huge but when you add all this up, you are starting to look at some big numbers. If Les finds new employment, his numbers will go down. Jimbo is a good fit for obvious reasons for sure.

Looks like Coach O was the one that fired Cameron.

Was listening to local sports radio this morning and they brought up an interesting point. Remember when Lane was fired at USC and they elevated O to interim head coach? During that press conference it was like someone had died and O was very somber in his conference. Fast forward to Monday and O was like overjoyed and kept saying it was a great day for LSU. Is there any way that O has been told that he will be kept on as permanent HC after this season? It was just really weird the differences in the two press conferences.

That is a very interesting point. In fact I think the very first words out of his mouth were "it is a great day for LSU," which is interesting considering they have badly underachieved so far this year and the HC just got fired. Maybe he meant that it is a great day for him...

Perhaps he either thinks he has a great chance to be kept on or he thinks his buddy Kiffin is coming to LSU.

Why are they even asking whether or not LSU is a top destination? Am I missing something? To me LSU is a top destination kids flock to death valley and even more so they have one of the top venues especially at night. "it doesent get any better than Saturday night in Death Valley".

It makes me think that there were problems on the coaching staff. Orgeron and Kiffin are friends, and I think the entire USC staff at the time were pretty tight. I think he was bummed to see Kiffin fired. It doesn't seem like he's all that upset that Miles and Cameron were sacked.

If they haven't already which is possible then I believe they give him more of a shot at it then USC. Someone said it yesterday that the reason they may have fired Les was to give O his best shot to earn the job like he had or didn't have at USC. Will they stick to it knowing the coaches that will be available I doubt it personally but there is no question that O loves BR and LSU. I think the AD understands that.

It was like he was holding his press conference for being hired as the new HC. Was all dressed up, trotted his family out there.....just seemed weird. Looking at other press conferences with interim HCs being introduced, it was very different than any other I had ever seen. Just funky

That and he literally brought a coach out of retirement to work on his staff in a matter of hours.

That's for damn sure. He was happy Les got him there but he didn't seem to bothered by the firing. IMO

Theres no question about his passion, fire, and over all love for the game but is O a realistic long term for LSU?

I don't think most people want him there as HC, but you know... maybe he has earned a shot. :dunno:

As far as on paper, Jimbo has always made the most sense but not sure about the bridge being intact on that one at the moment.

To me either Jimbo, Herman... then if not I think you are picking someone outside... the rest of the guys are very questionable either with experience or personalities.

I think Coach O being a defensive guy hurts his chances. I think they want Jimbo or Herman the most. If they don't get either of them, I think they'd give Lane serious consideration.

I think Lane is either at LSU or Auburn the writing is on the wall at Alabama unless im completely reading it wrong. With the hire of Sark it tells me that Saban is tired of Lane.

Youd know more than I.

I think he has earned at the very least a chance.
Outside of the job at Ole Miss he does get the guys to play hard and to buy into whatever he wants to see. The job he did at USC after lane speaks volumes about the things hes learned since being at Ole Miss.

You're reading that wrong. The hiring of Sark is simply a contingency for the reality that Kiffin is going to get another opportunity. Sark runs the same offense, so he'll provide continuity. If Saban didn't want Kiffin, he'd already be gone. For an example, see Doug Nussmeier.

It was just a guess really. I knew that he was hired to eventually replace him but it seemed to me that the tension between saban and kiffin was becoming more and more visible. "that's not an argument that's an ass chewing".
