Les Miles fired....

I don't understand firing him so early in the season. Why not just wait until after the season?

Because LSU fans were like this

I know money moved "chief". But wonder if he had seen enough and figured the writing was on the wall. As to mid-season firing: gives time to get the man they want in place early, and if he is good and big named enough, it should not hurt their in coming commits too much.

Because LSU technically could still end up a 8-9 win team, however I think that is doubtful... even Les had said during the offseason... the eye this year was on the prize... it ain't happening.

Now everyone is either on the same page, or at least moving to the same page.

Dunno why people are happy about this.. if LSU gets a coach they will dominate.

It's not that easy.

114-34 is not easily replaced. The odds of the next guy being better than Les Miles over several seasons are extremely low. Even Tom Herman would be hard pressed to match that record over 11 seasons.

That said, it's a gamble LSU does need to take, because Les is getting worse.

Depends on the coach.... the key is to keep in state recruits.

I don't think LSU will make hiring mistakes like UT has. They want someone who will come in and immediately challenge bama for the west. That will never be achieved by hiring hope-so coaches like we have.

Well... yes and no... Chief knew unless they started defeating bama that Les was at most going to finish his contract and he might not make it even that long.

It is possible LSU could have kept Chief.

They wouldn't do this unless they had a top tier coach on the line....Herman to LSU?

LSU AD is a complete idiot to fire now unless someone else is pretty much sewn up.* Unless there's something unrelated that's really really bad.

*That's what UT does.

LSU has always said Les didn't need to win championships or even play in them every year but he is being paid to compete for them.... he clearly isn't doing that... and not sure he is able to do that any longer.

That means at some point... beating Bama.

What's his buyout? His position will be termination without just cause.

Cause they have a good coach and recruiting machine. I remember decades when they were Vandy. They will be again now.

You cannot go 12-1 every year. Period. This is stupidist thing for LSU I have ever heard. They will wander in the wilderness for 10 years! Kinda like UT!

The play vs Auburn brought back visions of Dooley vs LSU though for end of game theatrics!

No he isn't... he should have fired Cam after the Wisconsin game... Les being gone is definitely a pretty good time to pull the trigger if someone has the money. My doubts were on the remaining contract.... I would say you are looking at a vast majority of the fan base feeling okay with this.

It is time.

Well, there is some wording in there I would have to read and I am not sure about during the season.... my rough guess is $7-12m.

Patrino is the opposite of miles . He can turn anyone into a great quarterback . I don't think les got fired for just his record . I think it's largely because he couldnt develope a single quarterback the whole time he was coach
