Les Miles to Michigan? (Merged)

After losing out on the Harbaugh sweepstakes (were we ever in them even), I am pretty much a toss up between Miles and Hoke. I think Hoke would care more, but Miles brings the "wow" factor and some good recruiting. I think our AD has wasted enough time with this coach search with the way we are losing recruits. I think Miles can maybe help salvage some of those recruits, and I think he will try to work with Denard as our QB.

Les can definitely work with Denard. Look what he has now and how many games he won this year. You really have to think about who his coordinators will be. I cant see Chavis coming with him to UM and I'm pretty sure you don't want their OC.

"LSU is great and UM is great also. The difference in the two is really a non issue as I have no issues. I love them both and hope that the issues that they both have are not issues that become issues in the future. I really want to think about the thoughts that I'm thinking and think some more. There is no place that I would rather be but I cant think of a better place to be"

what the hell did I just read? :eek:hmy:

Hoke would walk from San Diego to Ann Arbor for the job, but I think his job chances aren't as high as the media is portraying.

We are so sure that he would take the job that I have not heard one item about our AD calling this guy to talk about anything to do with football. We know that he wants the job and will take it.......he is our last option. I kind of feel like in a way he is begging for this job, and I am not too sure that is the type of coach for Michigan right now. I do think he would work his tail off and give 180% in that job, but I still think Miles brings more with his experience and the ability to recruit top caliber players.

Maybe he can hire RichRod back as the OC....haha.

If Michigan is serious about hiring Les Miles, then they must just be looking at his record on paper and not actually watching any of the games he coaches. The man is an idiot savant. He's probably the perfect guy to take over an already stocked team in a fantastic recruiting area, but it's really impossible to imagine him actually building a team up from scratch. Miles's basic strategy is a lot like Fulmer's was back in the day: have vastly better talent than the other guy, roll the ball out on the field, and clap like hell.

Numerous sources have told me Les Miles told the team he will remain at LSU following the Cotton Bowl win.

Les Miles just said in his post game presser he has had "no contact with Michigan".

I guess I will be soon to find out how good he is at rebuilding a program. Either way, I will be try to be active on these forums cause you SEC folks probably have a better insight into the Mad Hatter than I do.

You can say a lot oif things about Miles, but one of those things is that he wins--a lot. At Oky State and now LSU. He must be doing a lot of things right.

I said this tonight to my dad. For all his flaws, he finds a way to put his team in positions to win and they reward him for it. Often times we see it as gambles and he looks at it as having faith/trusting in his players. The clock issues vs Ole Miss, us and the horrendous call in the '07 Auburn game that actually worked are troubling, yet the man is 64-17 in the toughest conference and 5-1 in bowl games, only losing on a last second FG to Penn St. LSU fans should be appreciative b/c I don't see them getting anyone who's gonna be better.

Coaches lie all day and everyday in these situations. I would not be surprised if Les Miles has been talking to Michigan for the last two years on a daily basis...haha.

Absolutely.

No one apparently has any idea, but someone will be right in the end. Coaching rumors turns the media into a firestorm. Everyone has their "Sources."

WJBO's breaking story is 'Les Miles to Michigan'

BayouBengalsInsider directly contradicts the story.

I remember when the Vols won so much that we could complaign about the way we won. I really wouldn't mind getting back to that point, either.

It's hard to guess what is going on his mind.

Here's my guess

Being a Michigan fan I like this move for the mere fact that Miles should be able to still use Denard, cause that is one entertaining dude to watch on the field. I think the kid that will make out the most if Miles does in fact come to Michigan is Devin Gardner. Devin Gardner has the ability to be the player that Jordan Jefferson was tonight.

The more and more I hear about this the more excited I am getting to see what Miles can bring to Michigan and hopefully turn our squad around and into the right direction.

Not doubting you but a Okie St player told me he told them the same thing and then took the first private jet to LSU he could find. Didn't even stick around after their bowl game to say bye...left that to his assistants. Same player says he'll stomp a mudhole in his azz if he ever sees him again.

This is hilarious. You sound like the national media gushing over Jamarcus Russell after LSU beat down Notre Dame in a bowl game. Every SEC fan knew that the guy was an idiot whom you could count on to make two stupid plays a game that would keep the other team in it, but all the national guys could do was gush over his size and arm strength, and they ignored basically every SEC game he ever played.

The only way that hiring Les Miles makes sense for Michigan is if you believe he has an actual, enforceable contract with Satan that guarantees his supernatural luck will follow him north. You guys are so blinded by this "Michigan Man" crap that you're about to hire a genuine bonehead who only wins anything because he has vastly talent than just about everybody he plays. And I don't know that he would have that for the next couple of years up in Ann Arbor.

Miles' good recruiting is due to the fact that Louisiana as a ton of really good in-state athletes that all want to play at LSU. And the "wow" factor he brings is more of a "wow, I can't believe he's going for it here. wow, they made it anyway" factor. When Saban came to Bama, there were tons of kids who instantly wanted to come to Bama so they could play for Saban. I don't see kids flocking to Michigan for the opportunity to play for Les Miles.

I just can't see Miles being a good fit at Michigan and don't think he's the long-term answer.
