Let’s talk about Will Brooks

Fortunately I kept my mouth shut earlier and don’t think I left any regrettable comments earlier this year. Sometimes it’s best to let situations like this just play out because there’s a good chance you may be wrong.

Brooks isn’t just playing good this year. He’s playing at an All SEC level (though he probably won’t get any recognition). He’s a good football player who has earned his way into the starting lineup regardless of who got hurt.

Y’all see the part of the video UT posted at the end of the game where a couple of our guys looked at the camera and screamed:

“We got the dawgest white boy in the world!”

I may have paraphrased that, not sure I remember the exact quote but it was hilarious.

And he did straight up save two TDs with extremely athletic tackles.

There is a national award for the best walk-on playing in CFB every year....theres NO WAY that somebody out there not on scholarship is playing better than Brooks. Dude has 2 huge picks, lots of TD saving tackles, is close to the team lead in tackles, has TFLs...you name it. All the while keeping several 3* and 4* guys sitting on the bench because he is playing at an All SEC level. What an absolute Legend. God bless Will Brooks. His teammates clearly love him.

I’m going to be honest. I wasn’t super familiar with the kid prior to the end of the year last year.

But he’s seen the field in 36 games as a Vol. Seems to be getting SIGNIFICANT run in fall camp.

Came to Tennessee as a (0 star) recruit in 2020.

No homerism here. What’s the story on the kid? Is he going to start?

Revisiting this thread I started. What a first half of the season by Brooks! It’s now evident what the coaching staff saw. Very cerebral, and puts himself into position to make plays. Great job 35!

he's going to play a lot. he's a good football player. no one knows if he will start but pretty obviously he's going to be seriously in the discussion/getting big game minutes. if you watch the tape from the last two years he is consistently making plays. people give him crap on these forums because they have the disease where they can only see people based on stars they did or didn't get in high school.

not sure it deserves a thread considering the discussion in practice threads about this guy the past few weeks has been close to nonstop
