Let's compare Jesus and Muhammed (and debate homosexuality) (and Tombstone).

The face of Jesus found on eary Christian metal book | The Economic Voice

Here is a picture of one of the pages. That face and crown of thorns looks pretty familiar

Did you read the article? There is debate over whether it is Jesus or the founder of the Kabbala movement, who led a revolt from 132-136 AD. This would mean that these would be dated after the gospel accounts.

Again, what you are presenting, in an effort to add certainty to the existence of Jesus, are highly uncertain claims.

really? The face looks "familiar?" Expound, please.

Come on IP, use your imagination:

The image is eerily familiar: a bearded young man with flowing curly hair. After lying for nearly 2,000 years hidden in a cave in the Holy Land, the fine detail is difficult to determine. But in a certain light it is not difficult to interpret the marks around the figure’s brow as a crown of thorns.

From Newly Discovered Metal Books: The First Ever Portrait Of Jesus? | NHNE Pulse

A bearded young man with flowing hair was extremely bizarre at that time period. Must have been Jesus.

"But in a certain light it is not difficult to interpret"--was this also the first metal hologram? If it is not difficult to interpret only in a certain light, then it is difficult to interpret (unless it is scripture of course...well, you know, if you had been trained to understand the meaning of the words in the Bible then you would see that it actually says this, not this).

looks like Jesus with a crown of thorns to me. What do you see? Clouds?

You realize its 70 books, each book containing dozens of pages, and that they are sealed

You guys watch the History Channel show on the Shroud of Turin. Pretty hard to dispute the new evidence

The Shroud of Turin is as real as Big Foot in that cooler was. All the "evidence" is circumstantial, and the contrary evidence's proposed explanations are even more circumstantial.

For instance, I can tell you with some authority that they supposed palynological evidence is incredibly weak. And that was supposed to be a "clincher" at one point in time.

The fact that there is no known mechanism for there to even be an imprint immediately tosses it out of the arena of "evidence" of anything, until such a mechanism can be described or defined.

We have 70 books each with dozens of pages. Of the two pages we have seen, 1 has a cross on it and the other shows a bearded man with a crown of thorns. Its not like mickey mouse is on that inscription

No I havent. So you are saying that all that evidence is bunk and the Shroud of Turin isnt real? Because you can go visit it

I'm sure I can go visit it. But it's a manufactured artifact from about 1350. It's been dated as such. There's no mention of it's existence until much before that. The whole "carbon contamination from a fire" is such a bizarre misrepresentation of carbon-14 dating, it's actually a little sad.

I'm sure I can go visit a rubber big foot costume in a cooler somewhere, too.

Ah so you didnt watch it, because if you did, then you wouldnt have mentioned "carbon contamination from a fire"

I've done more than just watch a documentary. It's a reoccurring argument (carbon contamination) against one of the biggest problems with the shroud.

is this where you tell me the part sampled was actually from repair work from the fire? Convenient. Almost as convenient as the Church not allowing for another sample from another, supposedly authentic portion.

And does this mean you believe that you do not need faith alone to come to Christ, but rather there is physical evidence? Isn't that counter to the NT?

Like I said did you or didnt you watch the documentary?

Because what you are saying leads me to believe that you didnt watch it.

i onced watched a history channel special on how dice setting works in craps. let's just say i disagree.

According to Peter Thonemann (Professor of Ancient History at Wadham College), it sure seems that Mickey Mouse might have inscribed the tablets.

The Greek message that runs through multiple tablets, not only wrongly displays the Greek alphabet, but states: "without grief, farewell! Abgar also known as Eision."

I watched the documentary. Maybe not the same one you are referring to. Should I bump the thread?

I don't think there is anything you can say about the shroud that I haven't heard before.

At any rate, why not just come out with it, instead of playing a juvenile game here? What would it matter if I had seen or not seen the documentary? Does it change the information you are subtly referencing that you apparently think is a bombshell?

In archeology, they always say to be wary of finding exactly what you want to find. That always applies with this sort of Christian archaeology.

Lead Codice Questions
1. Of all metals, why thin soft heavy lead – why not copper?
(to mass produce leaves from a mold?)
2. Why credit card size – to fit easily in pocket
(did tunics have pockets?)
3. For what purpose – certainly not to preserve knowledge.
( daily hymnals? – that’s a joke)
4. Is there any similar technology any where in the world?
stamped monetary coins are closest match
(well yes, linotype press 1700 years later)
5. it is a short step from mass produced raised impression plates
to inking and pressing raise text onto parchment
6. Why would there be 5 rings. 1 ring ,at most 2 rings
would hold the plates in a book. Why use the extra lead ?
Why waste the space on the page for ring holes?
7. The technology involved does not match the time frame
8. The technology is unique – and apparently purposeless
9. The technology is heavy and inefficient for one production
10. No obvious innovations proceeded from the technology
11. More books can be made to expand to the gullible market.

All great questions/points...

Dang it! I hate that I came late to this thread. I love talking Vatican and Nazis. Some of the info was incorrect, Vatican didn't just not act, they even used their churches as Jewish detention centers before they were trained off to the camps. Mostly in Poland.

I've been to Aushwitz, didn't see or read or hear about millions of Catholics being killed. Talked to a couple of survivors too, funny thing they didn't mention it either.
