Lets look out our situation

No more idiotic than the threads comparing him to Neyland and proclaiming him the savior of the program, even after going 5-7

please link one of these many threads you claim are all over these boards. I read these forums everyday and have yet to see one of these.

I want to see a thread that claims Jones is the next Gen. Neyland.

No one has.

Not true. The picture of him after defeating USCe has been compared at length to a picture of Neyland on his knee with his players at his side.

Also in a separate thread someone was comparing him to Neyland both in general appearance and because they were (jokingly) both hired to defeat Vandy.

Urban Meyers career stops? Walking success up a level at a time? Reasons he cannot be used as a valid example?

Which is fine

But expecting him to produce like Neyland is another

Seems to be three distinct groups on VN when it comes to Jones and the team.

1 Jones will get it done and bring in an NC during his career.
2 Jones won't get it done and should be gone after or during the coming season.
3 Jones-I don't know. I haven't really seen enough to decide either way. I'll have to vote as cautiously optimistic.

And, many in each group bash many in the other two groups.

When the Vols start winning again, the three groups will meld into the great Vol nation. When will that be? Not a clue.

God forbid fans get excited about a coach and just out of pure excitement make a comparison to a great coach. Wow we should all just look at CBJ in a negative way and make ridiculous threads about people who don't see CBJ that way.

Long rant, don't read unless you are Count or have 10 mins to waste

Count, as my dad always said never present problems to either your boss or a group of people, present a solution.
As a Vol fan you should want your comrades to be excited for the Vols and everything that goes with it. You want us to throw away our hope/belief in Butch, that is the problem you are presenting. You should be presenting a solution if you want to get behind you/agree with you/make the change you want.

If a few people are being unrealistic in your eyes, and yes a few times people have said crazy stuff but not the vast majority you are portraying, that is what you should expect as a fan. Otherwise what is the point?

If you won't let us be excited because of his history at other places, at least let us be excited for what he is doing here. He at least appears to know what he is doing, he is saying the right things, he is recruiting very well, building up excitement (see all the threads you claim to hate), getting UT talked about in a positive manner. We won a big game last year, raised our APR score, he has passion and seemingly unending energy. This is clearly improvement, and yes there are some areas that need (a lot of) work.

This the real world there are no magic fixes. Yet you are the one with the unrealistic expectations, you want a coach that walks in and wins games just like that, you want something that can not happen. We are all going to have put up with some bumps in the road and more embarrassments. It is part of the process of getting better at anything. You also want a fan base that doesn't compare our current coach to the best one in our history, that doesn't happen either, get real. I would much rather have people wanting to compare Butch to Neyland than to Dooley, and if this is being said (realistic or not) be happy that there is at least hope which is all we have.

Have you honestly read a comment posted here and believed that person has already determined he is going to do what Neyland did? Be honest.

I think we all would want him to emulate what Neyland done. That would fantastic.

I think that some probably do. Others are just overly excited about the possibility

If he beats Bama, then I will be the first to admit that he gets

I will write a thread kissing his arse

You can bet on it

Let's use some simple results to show how bogus your theory is! While at Cincinnati Butch Jones beat Purdue, Northwestern, UConn, Memphis, SMU, Rutgers, Houston, Pittsburg, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, North Carolina State, Louisville, and Vanderbilt! Now he has the recruiting draw of the University of Tennessee Volunteers and he is proving what a gold mine that is. Is your goal to be the kiss of death to the UT football program? Figured it out, huh?

Well of couse we all want him to be the next Neyland. It's stupid to think anybody doesn't want that.

But to say that you believe a real live sane person thinks he is the next Neyland, at this point, is just stupid. I'm not even that stupid, and I know you aren't.

Dude, how many times are you going to post the same thing in this thread? We get it. He beat some decent teams. Give it a a rest. You don't even mention his win against MSU while he was at Central Michigan.

I think you may have misread what was actually posted. I don't think anyone is giving Jones or UT the kiss of death. Fans have different expectations and points of view. That's how I read all the posts.

From the OP, " basing your idea of his future success based on being good at beating lower level competition is asinine. Until he can prove himself at this level and win consistently, what he did at Cincinnati and Central Michigan is irrelevant"

Don't waste your time vollygirl he does the same thing in the basketball forum

Simply put, I have full faith in CBJ to turn things around on Rocky Top because he has yet to give me any reason to think he can't.

Talent is pouring in, we made much fewer mistakes on the field (just been out-talented), and he has the fan base energized again.

I can't wait to see what another year under CBJ and his staff will bring. GBO!
