Let's talk about Justin Worley

I'm totally cool with letting the coaches sort it all out, as we pay them to do.

Yeah I know what you mean. I heard that sometimes coaches know more than us experts on VN. I hope this isn't their first time evaluating QB's but I'm sure if they need the help they can just come to VolNation and pick from one of the many experts in this thread. There's so many film evaluators in here just close your eyes and pluck one.

I think the first game will be the deciding factor. If Worley comes in and struggles through the first few series, then I can see CBJ hand the keys to Peterman for a while and see how it all shakes out.

We have so much size at WR, I personally think Worley will shine....but who knows? CBJ might think think Peterman's mobility gives him the edge.
I hope not. I'm watching the orange and white game right now and Peterman looks about as bad as a guy can. Worsley isn't looking much better. They are both holding the ball too long. They don't get it yet.

Offers from UF, FSU, ND, and LSU according to Rivals. Not too shabby.

Some high school stats for reference;

3-star ranking, and national QB ranking--but his BIG high school statistics--is that he's an savvy QB with perhaps not great physical skills. Whatever his talent level--and we'll probably get a pretty good sense of it soon--it's going to be hard for him this year. He has very little experience, and our receivers are not only young but are COMPLETELY inexperienced. That's a bad combo, to say the least. We'll be lucky to have even a mediocre passing game, which means that we'll be lucky to have a mediocre offense, since opponents will load up to stop the run. The only way we'll have a decent passing game, IMO, is if we throw a lot of short passes and execute them well. Have to have a good short passing game, or we could have serious offensive problems. All the more reason, perhaps, to have a QB who can run a bit and make some first downs on his own.

Something to possibly consider...

Since Coach Jones managed to switch from dual threat to pocket/pro qb at Cincy, when injuries dictated...maybe he plays multiple qb's, a la Spurrier ( at least early in the season). Not necessarily every other series, but just mix it up a bit. If nothing else, opponents would have to prepare for both types of qb play, and maybe this gives the players the chance to battle it out on the field. Hopefully one qb steps up and claims the job.

As I posted earlier, I can see a scenario like this...at least until one qb can establish himself as the full-time starter

Dobbs will get broken in half by the likes of Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Clowney. He's way skinnier than Bray was his freshman year. No sense getting the possible future hurt by putting him in to soon. Let him bulk up a bit.

They won't get through CBJ's linemen.

I've seen Worley make some tough throws & he has played some serious SEC defenses. Maybe he can do alright, I wish the team had a superstar at TE he could depend on. I seriously don't know what to expect from the offense. I think Neal can do for Tennessee what Pead did for Cincy back in 2011. A good running game would help him out big time.

Nowadays it seems in the NCAA that freshman are stepping up at the WR position and exceeding expectations, Da'Rick and Hunter did a couple years ago, had a veteran Denarius Moore making things easier. I guess, Vincent Dallas will be the go to guy. He won't put up D.MO numbers but might do enough to free up somethings for the younger players.

There is a lot a staff can do to make things easier on a QB. Having an effective five running attack won't hurt. With the no contact jerseys no one got to see what pererman can do on the run. I'd say youll see both.

I've seen what the kid has, I think we all have, and I don't care much for it. I'd rather see a freshman like Dobbs come up front. The biggest argument I constantly see against Dobbs is that he hasn't taken a single snap in a college game. Well you know what, Worley has and he didn't do shlt with it.

Worley doesn't give us our best chance to win IMO, but that's just my opinion

....he is the only Vol QB to have SEC game experience, and the offense he will be running is more like what he ran in HS and won the "GatorAid Player of the Year" award......beyond than these points I have no idea how he will do....?

I'm trusting Butch and staff to put the most capable and game ready QB on the field when all the spit dehydrates...boring answer but it's da troof! :gun: :gun: :gun::devilsmoke:

Each and every day Coach Jones and his entire staff push themselves to be champions in every single thing they do - regardless of it's connection to football or not.

They are not only pushing themselves to champion every facet of their lives, they are also instilling this same concept, thought process, and work ethic into the Vol players.

Understanding that each QB was awesome in high-school, we should be excited to know that our QBs will be pushed to deliver 100% of their potential.

All these QBs are being pushed to the highest levels of excellence and they should all be performing at a level that would result in them being a starter on most other teams.

Having 5 QBs with this type of mentality, commitment/dedication, confidence, talent, and desire should allow us to insert a phenomenal QB when it's finally 'Football Time In Tennessee!!' - their name isn't prudent right now, only their preperation.

We can rest-assured, knowing these facts about our coaches & players, and continue to increase our belief in team #117, as-well-as their potential to deliver success on a scale no one is expecting.

5? Tyler Page?

CBJ is a practical man. He won't jerk his QB for struggling in just a few series. He knows such knee jerk behavior is the surest way to kill not just the starting QB's confidence but to make his QBs so unsure as to get poor play from any of them.

CBJ knows we have a team that in all aspects save the OL is new and inexperienced. Plus learning a new system. He's a real coach and knows players have to grow into their roles. But if a player consistently shows he can't learn, out he goes. But it won't be for a few series. He may experiment with various players to see what difference they make in a scheme. But he won't punish them for dealing with the type of reality this team faces as a whole. All this aside, I think by the WKU game, we'll begin emerging as a team that's nearly as bad as people seem to be writing us off as being.
