Like it or not, Kiffin getting ready to take OM to competing…

Regardless ..................like him or not, Kiffin is gonna win where ever he is ! You can bank it !
Yep. Historically he wins 8 and loses 4, on average, and you can take that to the bank. Maybe at Ole Miss he will break through to 9-3 but he needs another couple of 11-win years in a row to get there.

Ha, ha: I wish we'd have swallowed our pride and hired him after either Jones or Pruitt. I like Heup well enough, but I think Kiffin would be better. It wasn't going to happen, and I understand why, but if I'd been AD I'd have seriously considered it. The guy has some serious chops.
Why do you think Kiffin would be better? In Heupel’s 3 years here he has a .692 win percentage, Kiffin’s is .694 at Ole Miss. We know what Kiffin is, he’s an 8-4 coach that will jump up and win a couple more at times but also lose a couple more at times. Maybe he will break that at Ole Miss but I think we’ve seen his ceiling. Heupel’s ceiling is unknown at this point. Perhaps we’ve seen it with a 12-1 year at UCF and an 11-2 year here but those 2 already are better than Kiffin’s best 2 years. The 11-2 here is a wash for Kiffin’s year this year but Heupel did at least beat Bama. We play Bama and UGA each year while Ole Miss doesn’t. The 12-1 year is better than any year Kiffin has had. I’ll take Heupel all day.

Ole Miss is harder to win at than Tennessee.

That being said, I think Ole Miss is a better fit for Kiffin and his style. Kiffin seems like a great coach for a mid-tier program. He has failed multiple times at a major program like USC. It takes a certain personality to be successful at the larger programs.

People are being premature with their predictions of Ole Miss being great. The league is a gauntlet and a lot of teams are going to have a lot of talent, and be well coached. They certainly look to be very good, but predictions made 8 months before the season starts, don’t often age well.

Im a little concerned as to how some of you have so much information about Kiffin’s personal life, relationship with his ex-wife and kids, etc. All the while, talking about what a bad human he is. Many of the ones saying this garbage long for Bruce Pearl to be back. That’s’ something. Im not a fan of Kiffin, but I don’t know about his personal life, divorce, etc. Claiming he’s a trash person based on stuff from his 1 season here 15 years ago is a little ironic. Repeating gossip like 12 year old girls just because you don’t like him seems silly.

Why do you say it’s harder to win at Ole Miss than Tennessee? I don’t necessarily disagree on the whole but if you look at the tenure of both Kiffin and Heupel I don’t think it’s been much harder, if any, to win at Ole Miss. I’m down for a discussion though so why do you say that?

Tennessee has a larger stadium, larger fanbase, more historical success, etc. It is considered a stronger program and therefore can get better recruits.

You can argue the program has slipped since the Fulmer era with the bad hires up until the turnaround with Heupel but it is still, perception wise and resource wise, ahead of Ole Miss.

I don’t disagree there, which is why I think Kiffin has embraced the portal more, lessening that gap. Add in that we get both UGA and Bama every year and the fact we tend to schedule tougher out of conference than Ole Miss I think it’s been pretty equal over the last 3-4 years.

Kiffin is a good coach but he may be bringing in some culture problems by paying all these portal players. They have a favorable '24 schedule no doubt about it but if they have any adversity along the way, we may watch the team revolt. The portal players coming in don't give a crap about Ole Miss....they all just want a pay day before they head to the NFL.

Their offense took a hit today. Quinshon Judkins has entered the portal. That has to be a surprise. He had 1,153 yards rushing and 15 TD's in 2023.

Ole Miss better enjoy Kiffin now. Because once Saban retires he is Alabama bound. Ole Miss is a great place to be as a coach . No pressure 8-4 , 7-5 and 9-3 seasons and you’re good .

Just curious, do you think Alabama would even hire Kiffin? Saban did fire him, so I’m not so sure.

He is leaving .... has had some issues with Kiffin.
You’re right, my mistake. Sounds from what I just read that some of his teammates have issues w/ him. Can’t believe he would leave after putting together back to back 15 TD seasons and the team Ole Miss has coming back next year.

If Lame goes to UF it’s gonna be hilarious to watch some Vol fans cower in fear and shake in their boots. Oh no, Lame Kitten went to Florida!!! Whatever will we do??? 😂😂😂😂

I don't think he would be their first choice. but I could see them circling around to him after getting a no or two.

I mean its not like Bama has always made the best coaching choices. Heck they wanted to hire Rich Rod and had to settle for Saban when Rich Rod stayed in Michigan.

Rich Rod was still at West Virginia, but you’re correct, Alabama has some questionable hires in the past 35 or so years. Bill Curry, Mike DuBose, Mike Shula….

I disagree with the assessment. Kiffin and Heupel will be connected for a number of reasons. But mainly because they are both incredibly talented, offensive minded head coaches. I believe hypo has accomplished more in a shorter period of time than Kiffin has at Ole Miss.

Kiffin has yet to even come close to beating Bama. Their biggest win of the year came against an up and down lsu team. Last year only hypo second with a completely decimated roster. We beat number one Alabama as well as beating LSU (at LSU) and reaching no1 in the cfp rankings and AP.

Some coaches use the portal more than others. If you are bringing in a huge number of players, it means you are also losing a huge number of players. Heupel has been able to keep the vast majority of his recruits the last two classes on campus. He is essentially prioritizing the culture of his program over grabbing guys out of the portal. But, he has used the portal very efficiently at times. Right now, Evan Stewart is being projected to Tennessee who was the number one receiver in the nation a couple of cycles ago.

Time will tell which coach is ultimately more successful, but I truly believe it will be Josh Heupel. If not for one bad mis-evaluation on his part we might be talking about him differently. Of course, I’m talking about Milton. This will be the first year Heupel ever filled a quarterback that didn’t throw up monster numbers. But that mistake has now remedied itself and I truly believe all of the future QBs that play under him will get back to hooker type numbers. It wasn’t just hooker… Prior to him it was Dylan Gabriel, McKenzie Milton, Drew Locke, and even going back further to Sam Bradford, who won a Heisman under Heupel’s tutelage. Bradford has numerous times mentioned Heupel’s impact in helping him develop and ultimately become the player he became.
OM just has to win the Big games.
That is a tough hump to jump for any program.
They have both UGA and OK at home on their schedule next season. That is really it. LSU is a likely win for OM next yr.
If they are going to breakthrough, next season is their best opportunity.

I heard Saban thought he wasn’t totally committed during the CFP after he took the FAU job.
This. It was just a parting of ways for the NCG due to Kiffin balancing both roles and not doing it well enough in Saban’s eyes. Had he not gotten the FAU job I doubt he was any danger of being fired. They’re just fans and not on the hiring committee but the Alabama fans/alumni I know living here think he’s the heir apparent to Saban. He’s spoken glowingly about living in Oxford and how much his kids love it so we’ll see if rubber meets the road if the time comes to make a decision about leaving.
