My disappointment is Heupel isn’t as aggressive with the portal as are other teams. The days of building with freshmen are gone except for the 2-3 programs that can rely on loyalty from players that will wait their turn.

As usual, Kiffin has made a big splash out front. But can he sustain it? Ole Miss is rolling the dice for 1 year. They can’t afford this every year. Hell, A&M couldn’t afford it.

I’d rather build a solid team with transfers with multiple years left & stay strong in HS recruiting.

Do you think Saban will try and meddle with his replacement (ex- Fulmer- Pruitt) and insist on someone he can influence and control? Or maybe encourage the hiring of a lesser coach that has no risk of overshadowing his legacy? He’s got a huge ego.

I don't. Unless Saban can demonstrate that he is completely divorced from 'Bama football. I doubt that is an easy sell.

I expect that his ego will play a factor in his agreement to step down, "help" name his replacement, and then he can claim to have created the train that keeps on chugging.
