Typical rap follower response, don't click on our drivel filled bs if you don't like rap. Now you're comparing rappers to industrialist icons. lol:
Did you even read what I said?
I compared them to how the future public will view them. Do what I said. Name 3 famous poets from 1995 to today without looking it up. Now, go back to the presidents after Lincoln and name them in order to FDR without looking them up, or even name them at all. I already know you can't do it unless you're a history major specializing in manifest destiny era america. In thirty years, the world will know who more 1990's-2010's rappers were than they will poets of our same era.
My point is, times change and in an area of a lull of one skill/talent/profession another one comes up to replace the void. How do you think rock and roll came about with the beatles, elvis, or CCR? How about early jazz with the likes of Louis Armstrong or Nat King Cole?
I don't "Follow" rap. I follow music and history, and right now rap and hip hop is the music that is most successful. Do most of them play their own instruments? No, but musicianship stopped in the early 2000's regardless of genre for the most part. Do most of them produce their own music though, down to how loud or fast the bass is, how slow the rhythm on the hook goes, or how high pitched the trumpets in their song are? Yes they do, most are more involved with how their music sounds than the writers of the 70's and 80's (with exceptions to Prince, and a few like that). And to be blunt, most rappers write more lyrics and lines than any other genre of music, as I proved before nearly 50 lines a song is impressive, and most of the best have something meaningful or unique to say (See Lupe, Talib Kweli, Tupac, Nas, Common, etc) or are better storytellers than anything we've seen since the 70's (See, Tupac, Nas, Eminem, Biggy, Andre 3000, Kanye, etc).
I'm sorry you don't like rap and hip hop, I'm sorry you don't get what comparisons throughout history are, and I'm sorry you don't understand modern culture, but as I said before, if you don't like it, go somewhere else, because in this topic you won't even come close to winning, especially with your "LOL TYPICAL RAP SUPPORTER RESPONSE" comments. It's very easy to have an intelligent discussion on hip hop and rap, and I can play devil's advocate either way (I prefer classic rock to any genre myself), but you are not furthering this topic of discussion in any way and are simply trolling like a twelve year old.
