You are right he is a CB. I really hoped that we would have kept him, but he has had I think 2 major knee surgeries so his helath was a big concern. I really liked him.

yeah it's weird: espn keeps referring to him as a cornerback, but every article they write about his visit/signing seems to include "safety" in the title

104.5 The Zone here in Middle Tennessee said the Eagles were moving him to safety, maybe due to the knee surgeries.

We have a few pretty good corners. One of the weaknesses in our defense this year was at the safety position.

So you're an eagles fan? What's your opinion of Witherspoon? I feel I've heard of him before but am not sure exactly where or why for that matter

What do you think about the addition of Jackson to your team?
If he stays healthy(concern there) I think he will be a good addition and could take over the FS spot, depending on how Harris does in the off season.

We got him from the Rams, but he started his career out at Carolina and he was a very solid piece of our defense. He covers well and has tremendous closing speed. I wish we could have hung on to him, but our organization has never been known to hold on to older defensive players. Like to follow the Titans as well and it is a good pickup for them. I am not sure where he will fall into the rotation of Allred, Tulluch, and Bullock, but if anything it will make the LB corp better than 09.

Well from the looks of it Allred isn't really ahead in the rotation. The guy they seem to like to take over is Gerald McRath as a starting LB, making the rotation possibly mcrath, tulloch, witherspoon. There's a chance the titans might keep 1 out of bulluck or Thornton still, but it's thought unlikely they will keep both

Good to hear some good things about witherspoon

I think Thornton is gone although it looks like they'll keep him on roster for a while just to see what happens in camps. Thornton just did not look like a guy that had another year or two left in him. I think Witherspoon was added because they simply did not want a young player in Tulloch being the veteran on that lb squad. If history is any indication Bulluck will not be resigned, the Titans would much rather give up on a guy while he still has a little left in the tank as opposed to keeping him around too long.

Bulluck has already played for 10 seasons (and is still waiting to see how his ACL surgery recovery goes as well). I'm not sure I'd consider an 11th year player as having much at all in the tank. He's a big name on the team and among the fans, but as such a long time starter, that doesn't necessarily equate to left in the tank

I do feel though that while they are confident in mcgrath, they are not in the idea of allred starting, and that's why I think they brought in witherspoon.

Browns sign Delhomme to a 2 year deal.

this is the 2nd qb they've acquired in the offseason. you've got to think now that there's some truth to the rumors about cutting or trading brady quinn before this season starts

And less than a day later:

The Browns trade Brady Quinn to the Broncos for Peyton Hillis, a 6th round pick, and a conditional 2012 pick

They said on ESPN that they might start trying to move up to take Bradford or Clausen.

the browns? they just traded for seneca wallace and signed Jake Delhomme. The sources near cleveland are saying these are the guys they wanted, and that's why the FO went so after them in the offseason
