While he never calls out any players by name he made it clear that #5 should see his playing time limited and I mean limited. Also said that our team on the whole has very poor football IQ. Case in point when a fifth yr senior jumped on Mertz's pump fake when Mertz was out of the pocket and allowed Mertz to run for the first down. Said that's football 101--never leave your feet in that circumstance. 2nd case in point the fifth yr senior jumping offsides on the fourth and 1 and ended any hope of a miracle comeback. Hell I remember in pee wee football being told to "hold your water". Milton IMO didn't play badly but lack of any running game in first half and Milton's inability to process situations at game speed limits UT compared to Hooker. Not really fair to compare to Hooker though as don't think fans appreciate the special player we had in Hooker. Similar to Alabama this year comparing their current QBs to Bryce Young.

To be fair - the Fla dbs were just more aggressive and committed multiple pi's that were not called. That is much the way the Ga db's are taught to play corner.

You are correct - it is unfair to compare Joe to Hooker or to Bryce Young. I would only ask you to understand and process that we actually have someone with similar qb skills and talents to Hooker and Young - although a freshman -
Do you play him? When do you play him?

I think I might be inclined to run a two qb system against UTSA. The SC game probably makes or breaks our season - Rattler > Milton because he is more mobile and is more accurate.

But how much did he stutter and chew on his words?

#5 as you stated ( not going to put his name) should be benched. He was throwing shoulders instead of wrapping up and tackling. Cost 2 touchdowns. I'll stop now, instead of piling on.

He should have been sat down and play taken away from him the first TD that was scored on him because he refused to wrap up.

Hadden is an embarrassment in every aspect of the db game. He only plays well in run support when his responsibility is containment. His coverage and awareness is suspect at best. I keep watching for the moments of brilliance that the coaches see in him.

His tackling is average. Pass coverage below average due to his simple lack of awareness and his run support is below average unless he is in containment.

Furthermore, he is a headcade that causes unnecessary penalties.

Coach is trying to give the senior qb as much leash as possible, being this is his last
shot at making the next level. I can see Milton starting until after the UTSA game, and then
decision time. If Milton is average or below in first half, then maybe make a change at the half, depending on
the score.

joe has to speed up. Seems like all his decisions slow as crap
Haven't watched the game yet, and not suggesting but simply asking:
With all the crowd noise, and a center who didn't get as much work this week in practice because Mays was "back"... is it possible Joe was waiting for the O-line to complete its communications?

He is a terrible football player but the sad truth is no one seems to have the ability to overtake him as the starter

Nothing new. He’s been doing that for years. A couple of years ago
I saw him miss 3 attempts ( bumps ) at tackling on the same player
on the same play. It was so bad it was almost comical. I think it was
the Music City Bowl vs Purdue.

Re DBs if what you say is true for FL and GA with no or few PI penalties then why aren’t we teaching / doing same?

Sounds like a coaching issue to me 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm not sure of that, I would say he flashed the potential in High School to have that talent. That and doing it in the SEC are 2 different things and I hope ppl don't compare him to those 2 because both were older last year Hooker was 25 and both are in NFL with Young starting. Nico has a lot of pressure on him anyway with the big NIL deal and don't be surprised if he's not great ppl will kill him with barbs. JM was graded the highest on the team last night by Pro Football Focus & ppl all over FB were calling for his head and saying get the million dollar baby in there & we want Nico.

He didn't "throw" anything. I've had more physical shoulders in the baggage line at the airport. Hadden shouldn't be in the lineup after yesterday's performance.

1st of all, both of our offensive and defensive lines played poorly. That may be that FL's line were just better, but we will see going forward.
2nd; I believe if Milton has protection, he can be a very good QB.
3rd; I am not sure why our play calling is so parochial. I think the absence of Goleash (SP) has been more of an impact than we can quantify.
4th; I really like Heupel and believe we can win with him. This is the SEC and not the PAC..... 2 that CO plays in. Everyone here is good.... well maybe not Vandy.

That was the same lame azz argument made when Coach Sanders left JSU. He can flat out coach and Sheduer will get an invite. You sound like a hater.

Sooo just to recap. We’re undisciplined and extremely poorly coached in the secondary. I’m neither hating on Matthews or this thread but my 7 year old knows these things?? Did he say anything about Ollie Lane? He was as almost if not as bad as Hadden.
