Yall know Hadden is going to be the next coleman/moseley, right?
Get drafted and have a successful NFL career?

While Coleman and Moseley drove us crazy in coverage, I don't remember any blatantly poor attempts at tackling or on-field antics.

Our DBs seem to take the “bend but don’t break” philosophy literally. They seem to forget their purpose is to actually prevent receptions instead of allowing a catch and then taking the WR down. They need to anticipate and jump routes. Heck, really good DBs bait QBs into throwing interceptions.

Re DBs if what you say is true for FL and GA with no or few PI penalties then why aren’t we teaching / doing same?

Sounds like a coaching issue to me 🤷🏻‍♂️
Bc we get called for it when it isn’t even there.

While he never calls out any players by name he made it clear that #5 should see his playing time limited and I mean limited. Also said that our team on the whole has very poor football IQ. Case in point when a fifth yr senior jumped on Mertz's pump fake when Mertz was out of the pocket and allowed Mertz to run for the first down. Said that's football 101--never leave your feet in that circumstance. 2nd case in point the fifth yr senior jumping offsides on the fourth and 1 and ended any hope of a miracle comeback. Hell I remember in pee wee football being told to "hold your water". Milton IMO didn't play badly but lack of any running game in first half and Milton's inability to process situations at game speed limits UT compared to Hooker. Not really fair to compare to Hooker though as don't think fans appreciate the special player we had in Hooker. Similar to Alabama this year comparing their current QBs to Bryce Young.

Cornbread's kids.....

I don’t like his dumb decisions at times but if he’s not coachable the coaches wouldn’t put him out there, he’s got dog in him like Deion says but too much dumb dog imo….

1st of all, both of our offensive and defensive lines played poorly. That may be that FL's line were just better, but we will see going forward.
2nd; I believe if Milton has protection, he can be a very good QB.
3rd; I am not sure why our play calling is so parochial. I think the absence of Goleash (SP) has been more of an impact than we can quantify.
4th; I really like Heupel and believe we can win with him. This is the SEC and not the PAC..... 2 that CO plays in. Everyone here is good.... well maybe not Vandy.
Our play calling IMO Suffered because of penalties it’s hard to dial up 1st & 15 and 2nd & 24. Remember the drive we had no penalties looked like last year. Then fell apart we always were a fragile team the rebuild is tough if you lose anyone much less 2 starting O L in the swamp & we don’t handle loud stadiums so Alabama will be a uphill climb.

Hadden is an embarrassment in every aspect of the db game. He only plays well in run support when his responsibility is containment. His coverage and awareness is suspect at best. I keep watching for the moments of brilliance that the coaches see in him.

His tackling is average. Pass coverage below average due to his simple lack of awareness and his run support is below average unless he is in containment.

Furthermore, he is a headcade that causes unnecessary penalties.

I mean athletically he is probably the best DB we have. He is a mental head case tho.

We need to go get a real good coach of Db’s. I hate to call for coaches and always said Martinez must be real good at something to be landing high profile jobs. But everywhere he has been folks have been screaming for him to be let go. Heupel needs to tell him to change his techniques, they aren’t working. Not looking for the ball is not working. Playing soft coverage is not working. We can get pressure on the quarterback but if the db’s are going to play marshmallow soft it kind of defeats the purpose. Florida was right up on us but we play wussie coverage on them and they aren’t even a passing team. Just doesn’t make a lick of sense. GBO

Oh, also pointed out how our DBs never seem to jump routes or react to the ball waiting on the receiver to catch the pass. Compared to the UF DB jumping the quick slant to Bru on 4th down that broke up the pass.
Their DB also made a hell of a play on the bomb to Thornton; that was huge.

I'm not sure of that, I would say he flashed the potential in High School to have that talent. That and doing it in the SEC are 2 different things and I hope ppl don't compare him to those 2 because both were older last year Hooker was 25 and both are in NFL with Young starting. Nico has a lot of pressure on him anyway with the big NIL deal and don't be surprised if he's not great ppl will kill him with barbs. JM was graded the highest on the team last night by Pro Football Focus & ppl all over FB were calling for his head and saying get the million dollar baby in there & we want Nico.
Of course - things don't always pan out as hoped with any quarterback. He could be injured first drive, there are a lot of factors at play. In a perfect world - Joe and company take care of business at Florida and Nico just plays mop up duty all year. Just watching a little high school video of him playing reinforces he is unique and gifted athletically. You typically don't fall into the top 3 or 4 qb recruits in the country - without having freakishly amazing ability and skills. As a highschooler - ( on film ) - I could draw a comparison with Young probably more so that Hooker. I believe Nico will be great. I don't know if he will play much this season - but he has talent beyond what most true freshmen possess. I am sure the offensive staff are wrestling with options, just as Alabama is with their qb situation.

Also Peyton wasn't great as a freshman, but played and then how did the next 3 years work out for us ? Just a consideration.

The officials are in fact supposed to be calling it - particularly if everyone in the stadium sees the jerseys being pulled. I saw a lot of busts on the part of the officials and objectively they all seemed to benefitted UF and hurt us. It was a strange, strangely officiated game.

Peyton played because 2 in front of him went down with injuries he was basically a game manager. He looked like a skinny Freshman deer in the headlights when he went out there vs UCLA. I do think it paid off, but no way Fulmer put him in there if Colquitt hadn't got hurt and baseball phenom Todd Helton got banged up decided to give it up for baseball. Worked out great for Helton & Peyton felt bad for Colquitt injury prone his whole time here.
