Uh Oh...I just said it but hear me out.

Theres just somthing not right with the kid this season. Call it what you want, but I cant rem. the last time I saw a drop off in production this significant going from a jr to sr season when you are without question the teams leader and best scoring option.

Which I still agree that on any given night Lofton is the biggest threat on the floor, but nonetheless, CBP needs to do somthin to get inside this kids head before tourney time.

I know we have a much more tallented and deeper team this year, but I have a feeling we are going to need CL to win us a game here if not sooner than later, and I just dont know if I would want him with the ball.

Anyways, maybe against a lesser team, like dont let him start or somthin, just to see how he responds...

Does anyone agree with me in the slightest bit on this?!

The thing with lofton is that for an average player he is having a good season, but for him he is having a bad season. He is still averaging 13.4 points a game and has 24 steals this season with a few assists a game. Like I said that is not Lofton numbers, but for an average player that is pretty good. He is still a captain and leader of the team, and I think for him the only way to get him out of a slump is to get him shots. So benching him against lesser teams wouldn't help IMO, because those are the games we need him to take a few more shots than normal to get a rythym.

Get in his head? I think that might be the problem. Everytime he touched the ball yesterday, even if he was 10 foot beyond the 3 point line, all you hear is shoot, shoot. It's ridiculous. You could tell when he was shooting free throws, that he was thinking way too much. So no I dont agree, I think you tell him you have all the confidence in the world in him and to keep shooting.

I just think its been over half the season and he still isnt doing anything near what he did last year...oh well.

I just hope the rest of the guys continue to do well.

But in my honest opinion, Id rather T. Smith or J. Smith have the ball with 10 secs left when we need a bucket...

Dude airballed a shot and missed 2 of 3 free throws when fouled on a 3 pt attempt...

That has NEVER happened lol...

Maybe I just miss the old CL and would do aything to see him back to his All SEC, AA self...

And I dont think its "idiotic"....by any means...but w/e

To say our leading scorer, senior leader, and SEC player of the year should be benched when he is leading our team in scoring is idiotic, and nothing else.

I usually would agree about benching someone who's dropped off this much, but I can't. He's the reason we have been so successful the previous 2 seasons. He's the reason we have won a lot of games the previous 2 season. He's an All-American for a reason, while he hasn't shot the ball well, he's still a star. Has he looked bad? Yes. But he deserves the chance to finish out his Senior year as a starter. It's hard to go out and score 20 points a night when your team goes 11 deep. I for one think the worst thing to do would be to bench him. He deserves, and will get more respect from Bruce. The only logical explanation for him to be struggling this bad would be from Pan-Am tryouts, I guess, because he's yet to have shot the ball well all season, but let him work through it.

I agree man. You can tell all of his teammates are behind him.

Ok I think you guys missunderstood me, Im not talkin about on a consistent basis...Im just talkin about one game.. Or maybe theres somthin else that can be done.

I just dont like the drop off in production, and just wish he could get closer to where he was as a scorer.

Anyways...does anyone even agree with me about how he needs a wake up call or should we just "hope" he turns it around before TT.

He doesn't need a "wake-up" call. He's the most dedicated basketball player in college basketball. His drop off isn't because of effort, if anything, it's due to overdoing himself

I will not agree with you about anything in the world until you lose the "benching" thought, b/c as long as you are thinking that you are just not rational IMB.

and i forgot, we are 16-1!! ask chris whether he would rather score 20 a game and be 13-4 or 13 a game and be 16-1. I know what he will say.

Fair enough, I just miss the old Lofty and was tryin to think of ways to get him back in his old stride...

And believe me, Im more than happy with the production and the record we have.

I mean its good when the only thing you have to worry about is your star not playing like his old self and some GOD AWFUL free throw percentages...

Mi'rite?

There you go. Let's bench the one person, next to Coach Pearl, that is responsible for elevating the bball program to it's current elite status, a first ever for our program.

CBP said in his show after the Vandy game that he was tired of hearing the media ask "What is wrong with Lofton?" He said that is the first thing the media asks Lofton and CBP. He said that doesn't help what ever the problem is

No, it's good when your star player doesn't have the pressure of carrying a team on it's back the whole season, so that when it means everything in the world, he is fresh.

Once again, any inclination #5 needs anything other than to keep playing his game and for us and his team to support him is idiotic, sorry, I just can't think of another word.

Wow...I love how defensive everyone is getting...

I support the UT basketball program 100 percent...and did before they even knew about Lofton...

I dont see why this is a big deal unless you guys like fantasize about CL or somthing, anyways...

Im not here to cause conflict...

I. propsed. an. idea.

It. wasnt. the. best. idea. but. nonetheless.

Lets just drop it...I was hoping to have decent discussion as to what is up with Lofty...but i regres... you guys are right...hes fine, hes just like last year...theres nothing different about him what so ever.

So, lets just chill out...and bring on UK...which we should pretty much destroy i think...
