Lofton needs to be...

Fair enough, I just miss the old Lofty and was tryin to think of ways to get him back in his old stride...

And believe me, Im more than happy with the production and the record we have.

I mean its good when the only thing you have to worry about is your star not playing like his old self and some GOD AWFUL free throw percentages...

Mi'rite?

He's having a rough time, but it's not THAT bad. He's only shooting 6-7 times a game, if that. Last year he was shooting 20something times a game. 9/20 is 45%. 2/6 is 33. That's about his season average. He's not any less of a threat because he's shooting less...he's just shooting less, period. Harder to get into a rhythm. More, we don't need him to take those crazy halfcourt shots this year. There's no need for him to shoot if it's not a good look.

Ok I think you guys missunderstood me, Im not talkin about on a consistent basis...Im just talkin about one game.. Or maybe theres somthin else that can be done.

I just dont like the drop off in production, and just wish he could get closer to where he was as a scorer.

Anyways...does anyone even agree with me about how he needs a wake up call or should we just "hope" he turns it around before TT.

Maybe I can just "hope" you don't post any more idiotic "thoughts". Here's a good idea: Let's sit Chris down and totally ruin his confidence. I'm sure that will help him AND the team. Right.:eek:lol:

It's obvious that Chris is struggling and his shot isn't dropping with the consistency that it has over the past 2 years. He's still a very dangerous offensive weapon though.

All you need to see is the respect that defenders give him when he touches the ball. Opposing teams know that he is having a down year, but they're not going to give him an open shot to get him back in rhythm. When he gets the ball in his hands, he is always closely defended...rarely is he getting an open look at the basket. As long as defenders are giving him that kind of attention, it's creating opportunities for other UT players to get an open look.

I cant remember the last time this season Lofton has crossed someone over to get himself open for a shot... Thats like his patented shot and i dont think hes done it once this year lol... Its obviously a lack of confidence this season, but i also think hes not takin it all on himself to hit the big shots

imo , loftons problems are not from anything but form . if you go back and look @ the tapes you will see that he still makes baskets when he has just a little bit of a fade away in his shots but when he has an open look he goes straight up mostly missing these shots (just my opinnion) and yes he needs to be the 6th man , as i stated in an earlier thread

I'll agree with you on the form, Lofton doesn't seem to fall back as he shoots like he has his whole career here. I certainly hope that Pearl and staff haven't coached him out of his shot. Sometimes the best thing to do is leave it alone.

As for Lofton being the 6th man, I disagree. Even though he's in somewhat of a slump, teams are still very concerned about guarding him. In my opinion, having Lofton in occasionally frees up other players. Plus, you never know when he's going to light it up again.

Teams still have to account for him... so while I'm not calling you an idiot, I don't think he should be benched.

Don't worry...this week is at Kentucky week...that's where lofton shines...he loves to make them pay!

His numbers are down this year simply because he has better talent around him. In other words he doesnt have to put the team on his back and carry them ever game and take 20+ shots a game! How hard is that to understand ?

Lofton just needs to do pretty much what he's done in the last couple of games: take good, open shots in the flow of the game. Too often he's hit a couple in a row, and then started throwing them up from the parking lot with three guys draped on him.

He's sooo anxious to get back to his old form, but he's got to wait for that. Save that for when you're all the way back, Chris

That's part of it for sure, but you can tell his shot is off a bit. It's the combination of the two that makes it seem so bad.

Uh Oh...I just said it but hear me out.

Theres just somthing not right with the kid this season. Call it what you want, but I cant rem. the last time I saw a drop off in production this significant going from a jr to sr season when you are without question the teams leader and best scoring option.

Which I still agree that on any given night Lofton is the biggest threat on the floor, but nonetheless, CBP needs to do somthin to get inside this kids head before tourney time.

I know we have a much more tallented and deeper team this year, but I have a feeling we are going to need CL to win us a game here if not sooner than later, and I just dont know if I would want him with the ball.

Anyways, maybe against a lesser team, like dont let him start or somthin, just to see how he responds...

Does anyone agree with me in the slightest bit on this?!
DUDE!

Someone else brought of the fact that this is the last time in rupp , so i'd start him too (forgot about rupp)! he has allways shot better with a man in his face but this year hes's geting more open shots and his form is different when he's open

Chris is going to go Make It Rain tommorow in Lexington..

Trust Me..I was in Lexington this week and they are VERY, VERY afraid if Lofton comes in with his A game. They are really worried about UT in General.

Its not like im saying it to him....gah.

This is a DISCUSSION BOARD the last time I checked...

I had a topic...I wished to discuss it...all it was...the end...
Sorry for you, more people don't see it that way. My 2 cents, get off his back, if you are not satisified with his production, ok, but, get off his back.
