Lofton hit 4 three's last night. The FT issues were purely an issue of fatigue. He's slowly getting his shot back and you can tell if you have watched the past 3 or so games.

He hit four threes yesterday. You're seeing teams starting to pay less attention to him, and I think he's poised for a couple break out games coming up. Last season he was taking the ball to the basket more often, and I'd like to see that and I think we will in the coming games. Everyone has to remember the threat he still poses for opposing teams. You think defenses think that just because he's been down this season he can't hit 8 threes in a game? It's no coincidence his numbers are down and everyone else's are up...give him a break he's our captain our leader and he needs be given a lot more respect for everything he's done for the program the last three and half years.

Yea I agree with the whole taking the ball to the hole thing, saw alot of times where he could have taken the guy one on one and he chose not to...needs to be slightly more agressive in my opinion...

And I have mad respect for Lofty and what hes done, why do you think I wonder why hes a lil off this year...

I have no beef with him and what hes done, I just proposed something and you guys are against it...

I want to help the kid, but thats why im notta basketball coach lol...

I doubt benching him is a way to get him back in his old stride.

Fair enough, like I said thats why im not a coach....

Hopefully it will all work out in the end and UTK will win the SEC, the NCAA's and Lofton will be drafted by the Spurs and win 342543534 NBA titles...lol

I think he's learning to play with the other talent as well. Chris is an extremely unselfish player, but he knew how much he had to do in the previous seasons. This season with Tyler, JP, and an improved Wayne, Chris is limiting himself to just a shooter instead of continuing to expand his game like he has in seasons past. The fact that we're 16-1 should only be encouraging because Lofton will step it up and make big shots.

He doesn't need a "wake-up" call. He's the most dedicated basketball player in college basketball. His drop off isn't because of effort, if anything, it's due to overdoing himself
imo , loftons problems are not from anything but form . if you go back and look @ the tapes you will see that he still makes baskets when he has just a little bit of a fade away in his shots but when he has an open look he goes straight up mostly missing these shots (just my opinnion) and yes he needs to be the 6th man , as i stated in an earlier thread !:search: cp said lofton has allways had to prove himself but now doesn't , that may have been the case last year but right now he needs to prove himself again ! not to you or me but to himself .

He's second on the team in scoring, and his leadership is unquestioned. What makes anyone a better option as a starter?

I think that if he had something to prove again . ( thats his mo per cp) if he comes off the bench he could prove he deserves to be a starter . tn will need lofton to be @ full force (imo) to make a deep run in the tourn. I'm just like the other guy who was geting bashed , i'm not a coach and maybe the best way out is to just keep firing away ! cp will figure it out , thats why he makes the big bucks ! everyone just look at his shot release and see if it varies

Well, I am a basketball coach, and the last thing I want to tell one of my players who has carried my team on his back more times than I can count is that he needs to not start a game during his senior season.

It was a completely moronic post and you keep compounding it every time you try and defend it in any way.

I think Lofton is tired of driving to the basket, getting hacked and not getting a call. I've never seen such a high profile player get less respect from the officials.

But our team in general gets less calls. Same play on our their end of the court is a foul, on our end it's a fantastic play. Not just once or twice, but all year.

Do refs have a problem with Pearl's personality? Seriously

If you look at the past couple games CL is not the "old CL" but I believe he is getting his shot back. I dont think he needs anyone or anything to get in his head. I think this is the problem, he started out slow and it DID get in his head and now he is thinking about it. However, I see signs that he is coming out of it. Probably about the right time for the Vols.

But once he gets going, we'll all know it. He's been steadily improving the past couple of games and is showing good signs. I would love nothing more for him to go up and put 30 points and break the SEC 3 pt record at Rupp Tuesday night

...benched.

Uh Oh...I just said it but hear me out.

Theres just somthing not right with the kid this season. Call it what you want, but I cant rem. the last time I saw a drop off in production this significant going from a jr to sr season when you are without question the teams leader and best scoring option.

Which I still agree that on any given night Lofton is the biggest threat on the floor, but nonetheless, CBP needs to do somthin to get inside this kids head before tourney time.

I know we have a much more tallented and deeper team this year, but I have a feeling we are going to need CL to win us a game here if not sooner than later, and I just dont know if I would want him with the ball.

Anyways, maybe against a lesser team, like dont let him start or somthin, just to see how he responds...

Does anyone agree with me in the slightest bit on this?!

Why on Earth would you start messing with a formula that's resulted in a 16-1 season? Is 11 in a row not good enough for you?

so hes not having a clo year, but he can still create to's on d and still a threat on offense in which you still have to guard and plan for him. he's shown he can still hit a three with someones hand in his face. give him a break!

Maybe we should have benched Peyton Manning after some of the Florida debacles.....makes about as much sense, doesn't it? Chris Lofton will be back to form soon, all players have slumps
