Looking towards Georgia

I saw a national pundit sum it up best over the weekend, UGA has two modes: 1) Bored and 2) Death Star. If you get bored UGA to start the game you have a chance, if you get the death star version, you don't. They tend to go death star when they feel threatened. Accordingly, I think our best chance to beat them will be if they beat Missouri and Ole Miss and thus put the East away and that's not on the line when they come to Knoxville, then we might get bored UGA to start the game and the magic of Neyland holds off their comeback attempt. That scenario wouldn't win us the East, but I'd dang sure love to be the ones who break their winning streak.

My brother and I were talking about this same scenario. If Georgia loses to Ole Miss, and we beat Missouri, we are essentially playing them for the east. It’s hard to say psychologically which scenario would present the best chance at beating them. While Georgia will certainly be motivated if they have the SCCCG and playoffs on the line, you could argue that Tennessee also will have a lot more to play for, if we aren’t just playing spoiler, but also have an opportunity at the SEC in playoffs ourselves.
It’s just impossible to know how these dominoes could impact each teams psyche heading into that game. So my hope is going to be that UGA drops a game before us and we hold up our end of the deal against Missouri. Both teams would the motivated this way, and it would become a massive game. CGD would likely be in town and it would be a hell of an event.

Not negative. I don't think we win out! Just being real.
I'm a Tennesee Vols fan. I think we're going to win every game until the clock reads 0:00 and the other team has more points on the board.

Unless there is absolute chaos in the next few weeks, UT/GA will be the 3:30 CBS game.

Actually, even with absolute chaos-that might still be the 3:30 CBS game. Game has been scheduled on the networks calendar since last year.
Fans will have to get an early start with the drinking then. Haha

I love your optimism, but we’re not beating UGA. For starters, the refs will never allow that to happen. They want to ensure an SEC team makes the playoffs. In the unlikely event, we get a fair game called, we’re just too inconsistent on both sides of the ball to pull it off. I think UGA has had some struggle games for a myriad of reasons, but mainly because they have a tendency to play down to their competition and treat scrub teams as glorified scrimmages. Don’t kid yourself, we will get their best.

Georgia Tech will also get Georgia's best efforts because that game is for state bragging rights in any major college sport.

I used to be that way too, until Doolittle brought us LSU & UNC in the same year.

I'm a realist. I want them to win every game, but also know that's not going to happen. I predicted 9-3. We might win 8 or possibly 10

No, but I know football. I predicted 9-3 before the season. If we lose one of the next 3 SEC that's what we will finish. I'm a realist. 8-9 wins with this team is really good.
That’s what they all say. Not true. The proper phrase is Negative Nancy. But if calling yourself a realist makes you feel intellectually superior, by all means carry on.

All I know is that I am a huge Missouri fan this week against Georgia. If they beat Georgia and we beat Missouri then Georgia comes to Knoxville with the SEC East on the line
If Missouri wins the turnover battle by a +4 they can win but in a normal game this is a 14+ loss for them IMO. I'm like you we can hope but if they do win that momentum may carry them through the rest of the year, they would be a tough out at home.

You must have been one of those that had us winning 11-12 games. Carry on.

It might not be realistic but I’ve gotten to where I think we have a good chance to win every week regardless of the opponent. Logically I understand that this is a good but not necessarily great team but I really do feel like they have a shot, even against Georgia. If they don’t win that game, then so be it, but I’ll be rooting for them to do it no doubt.

It'd be great to see an upset, but I don't think it's going to be close.

We have a solid team that can be dangerous to anyone. What I’m anxious about is whether we stay sharp for 4 quarters. We could gave buried Alabama, but we have the refs an excuse and then we became predictable on offense.
I believe in out beloved Vols do you ?
