It was so obvious even vfjustin pointed it out.
You may like what newt has to say and his voting record, but one has to accept that hell will freeze over before he will be elected POTUS.
I still don't see a GOP candidate that is both broadly appealing and has the track record to get the nod. But we all know how much things can change in a year.

It would be kind of fun to watch him bury Obama in a debate though.
You're dreaming. If Trump talked record and his business background, Obama would nail him on the bankruptcies, lawsuits, etc. If Trump tried to go into foreign policy, Obama would trump him with the Bin Laden card. If Trump tried to talk deficits, Obama would talk about the business failures. If Trump wanted to talk about social policy, well, that would be pretty easy with Trump's history.

There are several potential candidates that I like and would vote for, but I have no faith that the RNC would allow someone like Herman Cain to get the nomination. At this point, I just hope the GOP can win a majority in the Senate and keep it's majority in the House.
The RNC is making a big mistake by keeping it's primaries open to anybody who wants to vote, that's how we were saddled with McCain in 2008.
Its hard to even find one that looks like he has potential to be that type of candidate. Problem seems to be that each one has a strength or two, but can't really lay claim to being well rounded.
Romney is the business guy.
Trump is the "I'll be a hard ass with the Chinese" guy.
Palin is the "Return to a Simpler America" gal. (Literally).
Gingrich would be the experienced policy wonk.
Pawlenty is still kind of vague, but I think he's going for the calm, cool, and collected approach to offset himself from the screechers, like Trump and Palin.
Huckabee is the religious guy.
Paul is the libertarian.
Who's left?
