looks like Jazmine is leaving

Just for kicks, which starting point guards in the SEC last year did J Mass do better than? I'd say not very many. :(
Guess it depends on how you measure did better than. If its assist to turnover ratio, the usual pg measure, Jaz did better than all of them except 2 - Harris fm So Carolina and Taylor fm Georgia who both had 2.8 ratios to Jaz 2.6.

But its pretty clear this is not a stat of any importance to the LVs anymore. It's becoming clearer and clearer we're just going to keep being a high t.o., win ugly kind of team who depends on outscoring our own mistakes. Not the prettiest to watch, not a precise offense, but hopefully able to win games. We'll see.

Looked over the Kentucky roster today just because I was curious as to the competition Massengill will have to compete for PT...

If this one time transfer rule approves some of those guards for UK will be wasting a year unless they get redshirted. I am pretty sure Haines got cleared to return another year.

So Haines, Patterson, Howard, Green, McKennie all were returning for the 20-21 season on the perimeter. Then you add the two perimeter recruits in Hunt and Toller both in the top 100 with 1 being an HS AA. That makes 7 perimeter players THEN you add in the two transfers that makes 9 Perimeter players! If the rule passes and no one has to sit out some of these players won’t be getting the playing time they thought they might.

It also looks like massengill, if she can play this year, will split time with another PG anyways. If she has to redshirt it might alleviate some of the worries of playing time (I know I know if you want minutes EARN THEM) however while he has depth this may have been a case of too much to soon.

Does Patterson who was the 6th player of the year last year remain ok with coming off the bench? Does Haines move to the bench? Does McKennie ? How do all these perimeter players with experience impact the freshman Hunt?

I’m interested in seeing how this works out. He is stacked but how does he maximize their minutes and create enough continuity.

Jazmine is a reliable three point shot away from potentially being an All-SEC player, which she still might become at Kentucky depending on how much more she improves. It's amazing how many fans can't/won't see she was the only guard who protected the ball last season...

I don't know any point guards that don't split their time with another point guard.

I know you are but I said I wouldn’t talk about Walz again until he feigns interest in yet another open coaching position. You’ll be fine.

Your obsession with me is getting weird. Don't make me put you on ignore too...

Sabrina is gone. She's going pro. McKinney is in the post rotation with Edwards and Wyatt, so her PT won't be affected.

Whether Jaz is immediately available or not, I would think that Patterson is the starting PG. She's a better all around player. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see a starting lineup of Patterson, Howard, Hunt, McKinney and Edwards. Maybe Jaz comes off the bench for the 1-2-3 spots and plays PG on offense and wing on defense. She has to have more of a scorer mentality imo to play a bigger role off the ball.

Just like the Zay Green thread, this thread has ‘jumped the shark’. Let it go, enough.

Why?

Is someone bashing Jaz for leaving? I’m intrigued to see how she will fit into their up tempo style when she was a slow it down and set it up guard here.

It is still relevant as we will most likely see her if this rule passes sooner rather than later.

Haines leaving does alleviate some of the min on the perimeter but it’s still a grid lock in there LOL. So 8 players possible.

I wonder with the Utah (Pac12 freshman of the year) transfer being available and a post type player (she averaged 11.7 pts and 7.6 rebounds) does that move McKinney back to the 3 spot some?

I also wonder if the transfers have to sit out how that will affect 2021 recruits as they would likely play behind them for two years (along with Edwards who will be eligible this year), the the 2020 recruits for three, and Howard for 1 year (not to mention Green and some others I may have missed).

5 assists per game and 2 turnovers per game is a ratio of 2.5

128 assists and 49 turnovers is a ratio of 2.61

Massengill is superior according to you.

Ionescu played in just five more minutes per game and had 299 assists...that is superior
Jaz is gone,,,Cya

Ionescu averaged an assist every 3.7 min
Massengil every 6.8 min
Horston every 5.7 min

My PG is Jordan and I am feeling very secure about our future with her at the helm

Wow. Unless Kellie gets lucky in finding a point guard in the transfer portal, some of you are in for a very rude awakening next season. Might need to install safety nets around the front rows of Thompson-Boling...
Darth, Jas was new, improved and better in part to Kellie's mentorship. Compare her freshmen season to this season. What she did for Jas , she can do for Horston.
At least Jordan will give 100% and not tank the team to make her exodus a lot easier.

The funny thing is some of the same people that bashed and said Jaz shouldn’t have been a HS all American , she can’t shoot, she can’t play D, all of it are now oh poor Jaz and using this opportunity to bash Kellie because she couldn’t get Jaz to stay🤔

I mean the girl improved tremendously under the new staff and their style of play actually fit her more so than others on our team.

Wishing her a healthy long career...

I don't think it will be a problem. They had 8 perimeter players last year, though I think one of them was injured. Still, the three senior guards, Patterson, Howard and Green all played decent minutes, and it would be similar next year with Treasure, Jaz and Robyn taking the place of the departing seniors. The leftover guards and the incoming freshman will probably be used sparingly since they are all lower rates anyway. The starting center Anyagaligpo (sp?) graduated, so I can see Edwards taking her place. The freshman post will be done additional height, but it will likely be McKinney, Edwards and Wyatt playing the bulk of minutes at the 4-5, with McKinney playing with one of the other two or Wyatt/Edwards playing together when KeKe is off the court.

For the record, I was in the camp that wasn't impressed by Jaz as a freshman, but have said all season that she was playing great for the team.

Jas will play, the star of the Kentucky show has been waiting for her arrival.

Jazz isn't the point guard you were looking for....

I wasn’t talking about you at all. I’m talking about those that used every opportunity to knock her as a freshman (not constructively) and some this year but now turn that around to be a negative indictment on the team that she’s gone LOL. I think you know some of the posters I’m talking about.

Her playing was never in question. But if she wanted to be THE pg that isn’t happening either while Patterson is there.

I’m actually looking forward to Massengill bs Horston they are still seemingly good friends but I know Jordan is competitive and would want to win the match up but more importantly the game. You could tell Horston was sort taking that SEC tourney game against UK personally. She wants to win and I think players will want to play with her.

In her defense, she was playing behind one of the top 10 players of the upcoming season (per ESPN) as a freshman. Unfortunately, Jazmine's role this past season was such that fans aren't going to realize just how good she was until next season when she's gone...

Yeah, I caught you and you moved the goal posts.

Are you seriously comparing Massengill to Ionescu? Why?

- We were only talking about what is a superior A/TO ratio.
- You said 5/2 A/TO was superior.
- I showed you that Massengill surpassed that number

End of story. It’s really ok to admit when you are wrong. I won’t think any less of you.
