Lou Holtz on the OT and fumble

This. To me, there is a difference between the ball going out on the side versus the end. I've watched a lot of football and I don't think I've seen this before.

There's nothing wrong with the rule--it's a good one--and if you haven't seen players fumble the ball through the end zone or into the end zone then you haven't watched very much football....

All in all--it was a freak play and there's nothing to correct or gripe about. Pig was giving it his all, and there was no need for Holtz (I can't stand that overrated jackazz) to say jack squat about any lesson to be learned from the play...It was an awful break, and a total accident--which do happen when 20 year old FB players play the game.

Pig actually gave us a dimension we haven't had in several years on the field yesterday--If I could say anything to Pig it would be "THANKS for giving YOUR ALL today for Tennessee--I'M PROUD OF YOU AND THE WHOLE TEAM!"

GO VOLS! :salute:

Spoken like a guy who watched a chopped up highlight film and has no care whatsoever for the effort displayed throughout the game.

He's not wrong...but he ain't right either.

I agree. Holtz and mark may can kiss my ass. They never did say anything good about TN it was all about GA. I would love to go tell Holtz to ram ND up his but. GO VOLS!

Pig got screwed. He gave up possession after touching the plane. Fumbling after touching the plane is a touchdown.

Good job Pig. You have nothing to learn from an outrageous call from the booth. That guy has some explaining to do.

That's a touchdown people. Overturning that score is an outrage.

No it's not a good rule. It's an outright stupid rule. I am not saying this just because I am a Vol fan. If it would have happened to Georgia, I would still say its a stupid rule.

If Georgia would have recovered the fumble in the end zone, I would have had no problem with the call. Usually a team has to recover the ball to gain control, just because the fumble is in the end zone should not mean the opposing team gets the ball. Sorry but that is stupid. I know it was a fumble and its the rule but that doesn't mean the rule is right. Just my two cents.

GO VOLS!!!! :superman:

I agree. Fumble out of bounds, team retains possession.

lmao....I remember catching a game over there, we were in the upper-deck like the last row, we recovered a fumble or something and I can remember seeing him getting mad and pacing the sideline...he looked like a little six year old after his parents told him they ate all his halloween candy. it was funny.

You sir are correct. "They" = negavols. It happened...we move on. Like CBJ said...the kid was trying to make a play for his team and nation.

Won't be surprised if dawgs lose in a heartbreaking way dawgs like Dallas cowboys find a way to blow it.

He gave his all for the vols and so did Woorley, vols d, and all other players a valiant effort.

Reminds me of Arkansas State high jump td.

Like Iowa state Texas there seemed to be tough calls near end zone this weekend.

What's to stop players from "accidentally" fumbling(throwing) the ball into the endzone and hoping for a recovery by their team ? Everyone needs to realize why we have the rules we have. Someone did it before...and now you can't. Butch gon Butch and we will be feared again, and that beautiful old Stadium was built by and for Champions... Neyland will see Champions again. You can BOOK that !

in the nfl, only the player who fumbled can recover the fumble. what is the college rule?

Mr. Pig , is one example of how hard we used to play. I was real proud of Pig and I can't blame a kid, who hasn't been in that position before, for trying to win the game. He followed his head coach's example by going for it. Coach Jones went for it 3 times on fourth down, Pig did the same. It was almost the play of the year.

Mr. Pig? Well. It was the play of the year. Its the Play that is going to take this team To the Top. Go Mr. Pig. I'm Lovin it.

Holtz is still bitter about losing to us in the Miracle at South Bend, so snide jabs like that are to be expected.

Notre Dame last second loss to Tennessee - YouTube

Eat it, Dr. Lou! Get you a helping of some Johnny Ball!

That was good stuff. Its great to have Jonny Majors and Phil Fulmer hanging with this program. Weird but Good.

Explains why Holtz don't think much for TN.

This play reminds me of the millisecond td catch florida had on us a few years ago. I think it was by Greer
