Welp, the writer came back after he was accused by Louisville as being fake news and said his source was connected to the Louisville athletic department.
I think were hire a woman coach and I think we want hire anyone that would require the salary he is already making. Will be a huge surprise if Waltz is the Tennessee coach. If were going to hire a male coach then there are as good of choices as him at a price Tennessee is willing to pay.
What a nothing of a story. This could be any random person in the department saying "yeah, they may try to make a pass at Jeff. If they offer him enough we'll have to deal with it." It's literally nothing. There's no substance to this at all. What's the context? "Well if Tennessee throws 1.5 million at him, we aren't going to budge." Or "we don't have any more money to compete on that level." Louisville is on the hook for about 1.25 million through 2025? 2026? So maybe this is something saying they've just extended him and if they get outbid they'll deal with it? Is it from someone at the top, or just a staffer who doesn't think the department will want to engage in a salary fight if Tennessee comes with money in hand?
A real lead would be hearing that Tennessee is making overtures to Jeff Walz or his agent. Or that someone inside the UTAD has said "this is their target." I just don't see this one sentence being worth getting worked up about, at all. It could even be the start of a negotiation with Louisville for a pay raise, even after he got a bump last year. Eh. Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't, but it really doesn't tell us anything.

Right now he makes 1.15 million think it probably take 1.5 million at least and probably four or five years guaranteed. There might be some booster out there willing to take on the total bill has certainly happened at other schools before. What somebody wants they can get if they got enough money at least 90 percent of the time.
???? UHHH The real AD we have now is the one that didn't hire a high profile coach in football. I'm not saying he didn't make a good hire but it wasn't a big name hire.
There's growing smoke around the possibility of Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz and Tennessee having lots of mutual interest in each other.
Nothing more than that to report at the moment, but I've now heard it from two places. So it's something to keep an eye on.
