I don't know if it matters if bama loses. They will still get in the playoff. Bama has to lose twice. Everybody else has to lose once. Could be another back door title for the gumps.

Bama ain't losing this year. But your point about them getting in anyway if they do is true.

5 conference champs, 2 FBS at large and 1 FCS at large would address much of the controversy now. Not all, but most of it.

Under that scenario Bama still would have made it every year they did, minus some of the controversy. And UCF would have been humbled last year.

I'm assuming you mean 2 P5 at-large and 1 G5 at large.

I did and it doesn’t.

That's why you can't make assessments about which team was better based on one game. There are lots of factors that determine the outcome of a one game scenario. Speaking in those terms inevitably applies the transitive property whether you mean to or not.

No, it doesn’t. What, was UCF better than Bama last year? They beat AU, after all.

The only thing we can go by is results on the field of play. Is a one game data set better than playing the best of 5, or even 3 games? Of course not. It’s the same principle...one game is better than zero.

And and entire season's worth of games is better than one.

Negative. It’s all speculation and opinion. When the question is between two teams a single game between the two teams rules all. You know for a FACT then. Best of 3,5,7 ect is even better.

Then you went back to the transitive property.

The same way the 4 are selected now. A bunch of guys get together and decided who are the 8 teams that will draw the most television viewers, ermm, I mean, the 8 best teams. Yeah that's it!
The 8 teams would be SEC champ B1G champ Big XII champ ACC champ Pac 12 champ and 3 other teams based on SOS and record. Sound bout right?
