LSU beats Bama

Bama was better but Auburn was better than Bama. Nope, not contradiction there.

One game does not, necessarily, prove who was better. The better team doesn't always win.

To say that Auburn beat Bama, Bama beat Clemson and LSU, and Clemson and LSU beat Auburn is a factual statement that doesn't defy logic.

To say that Auburn was better than Bama, Bama was better than Clemson and LSU, and Clemson and LSU were better than Auburn is a logical turd.

Who was better that year, Bama or Auburn?

Who was the best team that year?

The factual answer to those questions is Auburn, Bama

Anything else is opinion.

No. "Auburn was better than Bama, and Bama was the the best team," is neither factual or logical.

Anything else is opinion.

Actually, "better" in this context is 100% opinion. The only fact is that Auburn beat Bama. Any inference drawn as to who was "better" is an opinion.

Head to head score is better than anything else on who was better.

We could make the same argument UGA was better than Bama. After all, they won their conference last year and played Bama even for 60 minutes, and outplayed them for 3 quarters.

Or we could, you know, go by the actual score of the game when deciding who was better.

That is also an opinion, and one that doesn't stand up to much scrutiny.

They outplayed them for 2 quarters. It was 26-10 after that.

Or we could, you know, go by the actual score of the game when deciding who was better.

So, your argument is that the better team always wins.

Was Bama better than UGA last year? If so, what is the single most definitive evidence of that?

In my opinion: yes. Bama beat UGA head-to-head and compiled the better resume. But, it was extremely close, and I would not claim that Bama was definitively better based only on the game itself.

You can’t argue with someone who says things that are completely illogical and expects you to accept their validity. Not much is proven about the better team in a single game. This wouldn’t be an argument if the team in question wasn’t Alabama.

The 2007 Giants beat the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl after losing to them earlier in the same season. The better team doesn’t always win the game. Alabama proved over the course of an entire season that they were one of the four best teams in the country, and their playoff performance backed that up. But he can go ahead and say Auburn was better. I’m sure UCF likes to think that way.

The 2007 Giants were the better team on that day. And thats all that matters. Were they the best team in the NFC? No. They destroyed the best team in the NFC on the most important day thats all. Alabama was the better team last year. Why? They won.

Is it just me or has LSU barely changed at all going from Les Miles to Ed O

Only difference I really see is the fact they’re missing a 5 star RB or two that Les would of landed imo

The good coaches on LSU are Les leftovers ie the 2.5 million dollar man Aranda and Corey Raymond

I’m not seeing much of a difference except QB play has gotten a little better but so did the talent of starter who btw was a transfer so developing QBs is still a consistent problem hell I can’t even remember the last guy they recruited out of hs name

Also while recruiting isn’t bad it’s not yearly top 5 classes like Les had

Burrow is providing the best QB play they've had since Mettenberger. Alabama simply shut him down, but they do that to everybody.

I give Coach O credit this year. I was on here before the season started saying LSU's schedule had 5 or 6 losses written all over it and Coach O would be on a nuclear hot seat by season's end, but I was dead wrong. The only game they'd like to have back is Florida, and the fact they totally dominated Georgia the week after really took the sting out of that loss anyway.

I agree. It's easy to critique that offense after the Bama game, but that deliberate, grinding style has served them well this year. That it didn't work against Bama isn't shocking, nor is it an indictment of the system as a whole.

ya but he was finished product that needed no coaching up

Dude had been at OSU 3-4 years

I’m just saying overall record wise I expect another Les type season

I’ll say this O needs to win the bowl game if they end up in NY6 as meaningless as they are Miles almost always won those and in O case I don’t think he wants to start out with 0-2 bowl record

Also he needs to land Emory after passing Travis Etinne in 17 and Harold Joiner in 18 plus going all in and missing on Akers in 16 I believe

You could say Burrow was a finished product too. He was originally an Ohio St commit. It probably isn't a coincidence your best QBs over the last several seasons have been transfers who were largely developed somewhere else. Auburn/Gus have that same problem.

Agree that he does need to land a couple more big recruits before 2019 signing day. Currently 4th in the SEC. He isn't going to out-recruit Bama, and it isn't as big of a deal that Georgia (East team) is ahead of them, but he does need to be able to out-recruit A&M. That's a hard task though, because Jimbo has already won a title as a HC. That's a great selling point. Plus A&M and LSU are recruiting lots of the same guys. If Jimbo routinely goes into Louisiana and takes a couple guys LSU wants like Saban does, watch out.

Confused did you mean Emory Jones? If so you can’t compare him being a OSU commit who flipped to Burrow who was the back up QB there for 3-4 yrs learning under a pretty good coaching staff

Also Applebee and Del Rio were absolute trash compared to Burrow

I thought we were talking about Mettenberger and Burrow and LSU's QB play overall, not Florida's. I said Burrow is the best QB they've had since Mettenberger, to which you said "ya but he was finished product that needed no coaching up." I agree, as Mettenberger was a UGA/JUCO transfer. Burrow is also a transfer.

LSU currently kind of has an Auburn thing going on where they only get good QB play from kids who have transferred in from another school.

I don’t know how those 2 land any highly rated QBs at all

I see how Auburn does. LSU not as much.
Let’s see if Joey Gatewood starts next year he was very highly I believe top 50 guy outta Jax if guys could transfer within the conference he’s one I would hope to land kid looked like an awesome talent his senior yr

Stidham has regressed horribly so a good coach should go with the young blood over stidham I imagine

We all know Jeremy Johnson sucked the one guy he tried to develop
