He was a great playmaker, but nothing more than an better-than-average CB. He couldn't cover a guy who'd only played in 5 games and only caught 7 passes all year.

Any deficiencies he has at CB is mostly due to length, he was nearly always in position, great tacker, great hands, super great instincts, etc. No, nobody is going to consider his a shutdown corner, he doesn't have the size. The lowest he will go is the 2nd round even if he doesn't play this year.

Sorry but you don't getting playing time ahead of Ron Brooks as a freshman without being able to cover people... Ron Brooks went 5th round in the NFL draft and just had an INT in his first game last night, yet TM being him out as a true freshman.

LSU freek is awesome.

I'm not making any judgements about him at all. hell, I smoke the occasional doob. He could very well be a cool guy.

I'm just generally happy for all the LSU fans, who don't know how to act after three or four beers.

Yea as soon this hit the news today my friend called Jalen Collins mom. She told him Jalen called her and informed her and said he got kicked off for smoking pot. Coaches also told Jalen Collins he was the starter in 3 weeks. Kid was nervous on the phone. I wish Jalen good luck!

Collins was going to be basically a starter anyway, more or less a part-time starter. What is bad is Collins beat out Jenkins and both he and S/CB Vinson have left. Went from probably the deepest secondary to not so deep now.

I feel good about Collins... Simon has had a great career, somehow Simon gets left off the press releases. As long as the CBs don't get the injury bug.

I personally hate to hear news like this. Like or hate him, the guy was one he!! of a ball player and had a bright future ahead of him. He had some bad moments but the guy was a stud. Hopefully it all works out for him.
