I'm sure there's some psychological definition. Maybe imposter syndrome? Survivor's guilt? Who knows. I understand it, though. We've definitely gone through our share of pains as a fan base the last 15 years, or so. Now, suddenly, we put a top 5 squad on the field and people's reaction is "well, surely this can't be right, right?" We're so used to playing Kentucky close for bowl eligibility in previous years that the thought of stomping their guts out and completely demoralizing them--which will happen--seems foreign.
We're going to stomp UT Martin
Then we're going to stomp Kentucky
Then we're going to go to Georgia and ruin their hopes for a repeat.
Then we're going to stomp Mizzou
Then we're going to stomp Vandy
Because we're a good team. And that's what good teams do.
Still waiting on those reality checks. What happened?
Didn’t age wellCheck out this Tiger rant thread:

What they don't acknowledge is Florida still beat a top 10 team and mentally as well emotionally is easily our biggest win since we beat them in 2016.
These are the worst fans in the SEC who have made it their mission to slander Tony V as much as possible all across the internet. I want this win by multiple scores more than you could believe.
I’ve broken this down a few times before, but I’ll do it again.
- Decent opportunity to take 2 out of 3 from Pitt, Florida, and LSU.
- Almost certain losses to Georgia and Alabama.
- Outside chance of dropping one to Kentucky, Mizzou, or SC.
8 win season, 9 being the ceiling.
Was it correct? No.
Was it a reasonable prediction? Yes
Am I glad it wasn’t correct? Hell yes
Go ahead and get the rest of your chest thumping out of the way. I’m guilty of it from time to time as well. I’m also going to generously assume you predicted a 6-0 record at this point of the season.
I thought UT would go 9-3. Didn't think that was the ceiling though. I didn't hold out a ton of hope for beating Bama or UGA. Their talent appeared overwhelming... then Heupel found what had to have been every weakness Bama had and exploited them.I’ve broken this down a few times before, but I’ll do it again.

Agreed. I was hopeful that we could somehow get to 5-0 going into Bama week. Because to me, that meant 9-3 or 10-2 were the possible outcomes.I think if we are all honest, no one predicted we would be 6-0. I hoped for it, but I didn't bet any money on it.
