He lied because he did not want the NCAA snooping around. Much like the other top 10-20 teams at that time, Pearl was cheating while he was here just like he has cheated while at Auburn. We were recruiting players (Josh Selby) that had handlers and were considering schools that were blatantly cheating. These type of players aren't going to consider UTK when someone else is going to pay them.

Amidst all the silly talk in this thread, this one here intrigues me. Criminal charges? Massive amounts of violations? This is the juicy stuff I'm interested in learning more.

They have testimony from 13 players saying he offered money to them, handlers, and/or family to play. He offered 300k for top players. That’s the size of a “strong ass offer”. His amended deal states that he will not sue if he’s found guilty of a level one or two. He’s required to cooperate per the terms, but hasn’t. That’s not LSU’s biggest problem. Their biggest problem will emerge if he does cooperate.

He reminds me of Bruce Pearl, he's going to go away for a while. Then come back to some school that doesn't care about basketball that much. He'll exceed expectations (not like Pearl has at AU). Then move on....

IDK, Tyndall got a 10-year show cause. I don't believe his actions were anywhere near as harsh as Will Wade's.

Yeah, that's the other side of the coin for me. If we want the death penalty for LSU bball, then I guess we want a 20 scholarship reduction and 5 year bowl ban for UT football. I personally think Will Wade and Pruitt should be banned from being a coach again. At least UT cleaned house. LSU did not.

NCAA will give LSU a slap on the wrist and Tennessee the death penalty just because their “enforcement” makes so much sense.

I used to like LSU when they had Dale Brown. That guy had personality and charisma. He made the Final Four in '86 and almost made it again in '87 with nothing even close to NBA talent. Wade is just a straight up douche.

My goodness do something, they have been working on this case since 2017. The AD and coaches involved will retire before anything is done at this speed. Fire Wade and the AD, lay down some sanctions, and move on. Players are getting paid now, millions, its a new world join it.
