LSU, Oregon, and Oregon State require vaccine or negative test to attend football games [merged]

This is from the CDC:

COVID-19 vaccines are effective
Delta Variant
The Delta variant causes more infections and spreads faster than earlier forms of the virus that causes COVID-19. It might cause more severe illness than previous strains in unvaccinated people.
  • Vaccines continue to reduce a person’s risk of contracting the virus that cause COVID-19, including this variant.
  • Vaccines continue to be highly effective at preventing hospitalization and death, including against this variant.
  • Fully vaccinated people with breakthrough infections from this variant appear to be infectious for a shorter period.
  • Get vaccinated and wear masks indoors in public spaces to reduce the spread of this variant.
Go ahead, believe the CDC. A government funded agency that is working hand in hand with the current president and his staff. Money can make anyone say anything.

Vaccines have already proven their effectiveness by essential getting life back to normal over the course of a few months… If rednecks like you would leave your trailer park you will discover a world of doctors and modern medicine that can put an end to this ordeal.
Life was going back to normal regardless and never changed for most.

You have better information? Or are you just against anything from a democratic administration?

Tennessee is not going to do it. Get a hold of yourself. Listen to yourself. My GOD. You don't like it, then stay shuttered inside your home.
Im vaccinated .. Im going to games regardless .. my point is until people get vaccinated then there are going to be unvaccinated people get the virus that are gonna continue to fill hospitals and die .. its very simple ... I wish they would adopt ..maybe more people would consider getting the shots ... anything that can be done to urge people to get the shot to minimize death and serious health issues Im for .. period .. its a simple message .. and a simple system to keep people safe and from serious illness in hospital stays on vents and death . large majority of people in hospitals in bad conditions and those who have died have been unvaccinated .. fact.

This isn't a simple message. This is government saying "get the vaccine" and making up **** as they go along. Whatever fits the narrative though, right?

I've already replied to this once today. The CDC is a crock of ****.

Speaking of the CDC, did you see where they released updated information regarding the vaccine? Yeah, just this morning, they now say the vaccination has went from a 91% effective rate to 61%. I don't understand why people are so willing to give up their freedom of choice? Australia is gone, there is now a national manhunt for a man who left his apartment without being vaccinated. Video of said man on elevator sneezing, he was the only person in the elevator by the way.

If we're not careful, we're going in that same direction. I've never saw so many people who are cool with a mandate. Hell, if they've had the vaccination, they don't need to worry about anyone else. Live life or don't, it's their choice...but don't start calling names and throwing insults because people don't agree.

I wonder if you go out to eat at restaurants .. probably not .. that would be trusting someone to not feed you spoiled food .. "they say its fresh .. but you better not believe them .. go home and eat a chicken egg from your hens you have .. get in the garden and fix you some beans and taters . ... dont buy anything to go on them from the store .you would have to trust that that complany wasnt just trying to make money and didnt care if the product was good or not ... you probably got conspiracy theories for everything ..

There's a scary amount of people that would get on their knees right now in America and give up every freedom they have. Spineless cowards.

Why are you arguing with @NO SIR EEE ? What he's trying to tell you is that he believes what he sees and hears with his "own" eyes and ears. You read to argue, you don't read to think. It's okay that you don't agree with him, it's okay he doesn't agree with you. We're people living in a free nation who are allowed to have different opinions. It's life and that's okay!!!!!

It's not a conspiracy theory. A conspiracy theory is a far fetched idea that more than 95 percent of the time is not true. Do you not understand that? No? I didn't think so. I do frequent restaurants, but I am also smart enough to know if something is spoiled or not. I do frequent grocery stores to buy our food and again, you can tell if something is bad or not. My entire argument was: Nobody is going to make me get the vaccine. Period. But of course, you defend everything to the bone just like a bunch of your other sheep friends. Think for yourself and don't agree with every damn thing you hear.

IT'S UNBELIEVABLE. I don't pretend to know your religious beliefs, but the mark of the beast is going to be easy for the devil. People will line up in droves!!!!!

But that doesn’t really address those of us who have already had COVID and only had mild symptoms, especially if young & healthy. Why should WE get a vaccine that will be largely superfluous to us?

If someone is older or has health issues, they should probably get the vaccine. Even if young & healthy and they have yet to get the virus, they might should get the vaccine.

I’m not anti-vaxx, I am anti-gov’t & societal coercion to enforce people to get the vaccine to live a normal life. That triggers alarm bells to me.

My wife tested positive for COVID twice, the first time in November with mild symptoms, the second time in March with no symptoms. I tested positive last November, but didn’t get tested in March because I was already having to quarantine for 3 weeks anyway (due to my employer’s rules). If it wasn’t a false positive and my wife did have it again in March, then I most likely had it a second time, as well. If I did have it a second time, I had zero symptoms. Thus, I am not concerned with catching it again, except for the potential of spreading it to others. The vaccine doesn’t prevent infection or spreading, and isn’t likely to confer any more benefit than I currently possess, so why should I get it?

Concerning the CDC & Gov’t: I am not a conspiratorial person, but as much as this vaccine has been foisted upon the populace, I am skeptical that the authorities responsible for pushing it would be completely honest about potential problems with it. In fact, the method of gov’t thus far in the pandemic (whether with masks, lockdowns, vaccines, etc) has been: mandate them and deal with any problems or consequences later down the road. That doesn’t exactly foster my trust.

I’ve attended two funerals since February 2021, both friends were fully vaccinated. What 28 years of military service taught me was to verify what I was being told. Within the next 18 to 24 months, all the pharmaceutical companies that are producing the Covid vaccine will have a prophylactic treatment, a pill which disrupts the ability of the virus to replicate, much like ivermectin. The US government has already purchased 1.7 million pills from Merk, which ientered into the third phase of testing. Proud to be a Southern Redneck and the trailer park boys and girls do the majority of dying in defense of freedom for this country. May just go buy me a trailer too,

So you are opposed to a vaccine because it is in needle form, would swallow a pill?

I suggest you re-read my post. The only thing I am opposed to is the loss of freedom of choice. Vaccines don’t prevent contracting a virus, to include Covid, or it’s spread. Just as the flu vaccine does when they guess right, it may lessen the severity of the symptoms and length of illness. I am not opposed to any one taking the vaccine or refusing to take it. And with that, I retire from this conversation.

I'll note that the research described in this article is very different than what has been discussed in this thread. It starts by discussing a study on whether signing a promise before an agreement makes people more honest (far from vaccine validation). The article mentions that the principal investigator of the work is deemed high confidence by the journal Science (impact factor 41.8), but the study in question is in fact published in Psychological Science (impact factor 4.90). The article states at one point "or was the data set he got from an insurance company faked for some reason." Obtaining your data from another party is not ideal...

Next, it discusses fake work that was passed by peer reviewers for the publication "Sex Roles" (impact factor 4.19).

It is a problem these days that there are numerous lower tier and predatory for-profit journals where it is easy to publish anything. Therefore, you can always find a few handfuls of papers that support any stance. When looking for answers you have to evaluate the big picture and focus on the bulk of the work in respected journals within the field.
