LSU targeting Brian Kelly (per The Athletic)

As I said, he can stay at ND and get an occasional playoff appearance and run out of the game by halftime or roll the dice and go to LSU where he will have more talent and recruiting than he ever has had at Notre Dame. Right now, the Mississippi schools are more of a threat in the west than A&M and Jimbo.

Kelly is another Les Miles type hire with more accolades. He’s culturally prolly not the best fit for the Bayou but he would absolutely be a homerun hire after missing out on Riley and Aranda apparently.
Oh I’m not saying he’s not a home run hire. He absolutely is a home run from a LSU standpoint. I put it up there ahead of Riley, to be honest. I’m just shocked Kelly would make this move. But you’re 100% correct on the culture fit. I can’t see him bonding with the Coach Os of the world—basically every LSU fan. Speaking of which, I would buy LSU season tickets to have a press conference where Coach O is the one who introduces Kelly.

If he can’t win at ND with their name brand basically helping recruit, he’s not going to win at LSU where he has to battle recruiting against Saban, Jimbo, and soon to be Texas.

I disagree. Notre Dame still has pretty strict academic standards. At LSU he won’t have to worry about that.

He will be able to do it with 0 academic restrictions compared to ND in a more fertile recruiting ground.
This is a valid point. I didn’t consider academic restrictions. However, I still think it’s a silly move on his part. Of course we haven’t seen the paycheck yet…

He’s making the move Riley was scared to make. He obviously feels he’s topped out at ND and if you have a desperate suitor willing to pay while offering upgrades in competition and talent, good result for you.

ND doesn’t play Alabama & Ga but the rest of their schedule is as tough if not tougher than Tennessee. There’s not 3 ETSU, south Alabama’s on their schedule every year.

Hmmm. You are leaving out 10-2 Pitt from the ACC and 10-2 Ole Miss. UK finished 9-3 as well. The best, and only ranked matchups ND had THIS year was Cincinnati(12-0 American) and Purdue and Wisconsin(8-4 B10).

ND played Toledo in game 2, we played Bowling Green St. in game 1 both from the MAC. Sure, we had TTech and South Alabama and, but let’s not act like the ACC schedule ND played THIS year was tough, and Navy ain’t killing it either. Come on now.

We’ll see how he fares down in the bayou, I wish him luck.

GBO!

I don’t think he fits culturally, I think he fails at LSU

Nick Saban didn't fit either but kills it everywhere in the South. There's not a bigger Cajun cornball out there than Ogre and he got ran out on a rail after two down seasons. Winning is the only culture that matters.

Not murder. Manslaughter.

Quite hardly. I am already laughing at the LSU is hiring a coach that killed someone…..

He didn’t force the kid up on the lift….. this whole notion that Brian Kelly killed someone forcibly cracks me up. Must have missed the part where he had a gun to the kid’s head to make him go up

Not a murderer.

Responsible and negligent for the death of a college student? Yes

He didn’t force that kid to get on the lift….. not like he put a gun to his head and said “go up”…..

Kid could have easily said nope, not today.

He was the kid's boss and instructed him to go up in the lift. But sure, everyone should just expect a student worker to tell the football coach to piss off.

you know I gotta say. I’ve seen some terrible opinions in my day here in 13.5 years and this might be the worst non political/race one I’ve seen.

And let us not forget the poor girl who was raped by a ND football player and then got bullied by other ND football players to the point that she killed herself.

If you are feeling unsafe in a work environment yet still choose to do something you feel is unsafe just because your boss says to, that is your personal choice…… Kelly didn’t force the kid up on the lift.

Did Brian Kelly force the kid on the lift against his own free will?

Simple yes or no will suffice….
