So just to get this right, he used force to put the kid into the lift and then forced him to stay up there against his will which ultimately led to a death? Brian Kelly used force against a college student and wasn’t charged with murder?

Perhaps I'm being unfair. Allow me to focus on his on-the-field accomplishments.

Kelly has a 3-6 lifetime record against the SEC. His 3 wins? 1 over mighty Vanderbilt and 2 over LSU.

So he has as many wins over his new employer as he does dead college kids whose blood are on his hands.

Reports are it’s a done deal Kelly to LSU.

All I’ll say is it sucks for any coach to bail on his team with a chance to get in CFP. This rush to hire coaches is about the recruiting date in 2 weeks. Maybe they need to go back to the 1date in Feb. This is ridiculous

You literally said “Not if you willingly choose to put yourself in a position where said workplace accident happens…. kid could have easily said no, but didn’t….” That looks like blaming Declan Sullivan to me.

And again, it’s way more likely that Declan Sullivan assumed his bosses knew he would be safe up there and that he would okay. That’s not hero worship that’s putting faith in your bosses they are protecting you which everybody does everyday. Way more likely then “oh my god Brian Kelly I’ll do anything for you” like you’re implying he thought.

And you’re the one going to war for Brian Kelly not me. I’m sorry you’re so offended that I believe bosses should be concerned and help take care of their employees safety. Jim Tressel had the same situation the exact same day and said he didn’t want his cameramen out there and moved practice indoors. I hope you aren’t in charge of anyone, I’d feel terrible for them since you obviously do not value safety or feel that employers should look after their employees in any way.

Not at all. Rape is very much like murder. Both are done using force and against someone’s own free will/choice. That wasn’t the case in this incident.

Well considering he made the choice to go into an unsafe position, he owned some responsibility there…. It was an unfortunate accident that led to his death. It wasn’t a murder or forcible death, which has been my whole point since we started this debate.

We can hold college kids over age 18 liable for their choices of rape, drinking, and cheating yet this case is an exception? No thanks. Nothing more than a hit piece against a coach.

Was he wrong to ask the kid to go up in an unsafe situation? Sure. Was he responsible for the kid’s death to the tune he forced him onto the lift? Of course not. No objective jury would ever convict on those grounds.

No one, at least not me, is saying he forced the kid up there. But to say the kid should have had the guts to say no is just silly. Furthermore, if you know anything about basic psychological development, you’d know the frontal lobe of the brain—the key decision making portion—isn’t fully developed until roughly 24-25 years old. So to say a that a 20 year old should have the adult mindset to stand up to his/her boss is just silly and proves you know nothing of the real world.
