Or perhaps some of that NIL money has gone to keep current players we’ve identified as crucial to next year’s success (ie Bru and Mays). As for taking L’s, just because we didn’t get some of the huge, flashy guys doesn’t mean we’ve been beaten at all points. If we don't get this guy or keep Mincy then I don't want to hear how great our NIL set up is! Seems like all we've done is take L's in recruiting the past month.
Yeah but you’re acting like they’re gonna switch him to guard mid season to help out at guard. Umarov didn’t play this year because we had 4 very experienced tackles in front of him. The fact that lane and lamprey played is irrelevant when it comes to umarov.Coaches put players where they can help the team. If he were one of our best OL he would have been on the field.
It's also ridiculous to expect any true freshman o-linemen to start in the SEC I mean, that should be obvious...Yeah but you’re acting like they’re gonna switch him to guard mid season to help out at guard. That’s not what I’m saying. He was never going to see the field at OT this year. It seems like if he was good at blocking people Elarbee would have started him out at OG where he had the best opportunity to help us. That’s what we did with Trey Smith and it’s what many people thought we’d do with Seaton if we’d of gotten him. Our weak link in 2023 was OG and until Mincey left it was looking like our weak link in 2024 as well. Elarbee felt like our best option was Lane. To me, that says Umarov and Reddick have a long way to go. Maybe I’m wrong.Yeah but you’re acting like they’re gonna switch him to guard mid season to help out at guard. Well maybe Trey smith started at guard because well I don’t know he was a guard in college. Played 95% of his games at guard. Using Seaton as an example really isn’t smart since you are only taking the word from people on this site saying he would have played guard. No one of importance said he was ever even considering playing guard his freshman season. That’s not what I’m saying. He was never going to see the field at OT this year. You’re just looking for a debate, apparently. Umarov can develop into an NFL talent, and probably will, but I’m not going to argue with someone who thinks Umarov or Reddick or Larry Johnson III is going to go from being outside of our two-deep (despite injuries) to being our starting RT in 9 months time during the portal era. I’m not going to change my mind about us being desperately thin at OT, but feel free to waste your virtual breathWell maybe Trey smith started at guard because well I don’t know he was a guard in college. OL recruiting has been down right bad so far. Literally nothing to show for the high school classes they’ve brought in. I’ll give a “good” to everything else, with QB obviously being elite.DL recruiting, OL recruiting, and CB recruiting. Granted theyve had hands tied with sanctions, has been just good.
Needs to be great.
Moving on.
We have had exactly zero contributeurs from the high school ranks. All flops and transfer outs including our highest rated OL from past classes, Addison Nichols. This class looks more promising, but yes until someone from the high school ranks actually contributes it’s down right bad.We just signed three 4 stars and two 3 stars. That's down right bad?
