LSU vs. Miss. St.

6 INTS, pretty awful, I hope they beat Tulane for the pride of the SEC at least.

Wow now the backup runs one in on them, ouch!

Since the game is over back to LSU and their obsession with the white jerseys:

Just to quote on the unis (from a poster at tigerforum, and this in-depth discussion of uniforms seems pretty flaky to me)

"Re: MSU forcing the purple unis?

LSU has a 50-year tradition of wearing white home and away and one of the the most recognizable helmets in college football. The purple is no big deal and no jinx, but it is just butt ugly and look slike a SWAC uniform. Way too Mardi Gras.

Nick started wearing the purple at home for a game or two to end this jinx business, but I wish it would go away. The reason it hasn't is because the players like the purple, so Les lets them wear it for a game or two. But if you've see what the average LSU football player wears around campus . . . we don't want them designing uniforms, stick to football.

Of course, . . . wearing the purple should be our option. If we have a game at night on national TV, we're wearing the white jerseys. If an opponent tries to force us to wear white to gain some kind of imaginary edge, it is not only no edge at all, but it pisses off the Tigers. Kentucky and Florida have both tried this in the past, but they haven't lately."
Man, that is just pathetic. Their own fans say their home purple is "butt ugly"? Too many drunken nights in Tiger Town...

Is Sylvester Croom a self-destructive personality? I just don't get it. Terrible coach. Only terribly deranged fans could see something good in tonight's performance.

That was a terrible performance last night by MSU. It's one thing to lose, but they just quit for most of the 2nd half of that game.

two things:
1. i can't believe they kept letting Henig throw the ball deep across the middle. I have never felt worse for a kid....wow....just a horrible night for him. kid's tough as nails though, but jeez, he's just not very good.
2. while i came away very impressed with LSU's D, i still can't let myself get past how BAD MSU's offense was at the same time. the INT's look good on the stat board, but the balls they were catching weren't exactly toughies either. horrible throws, terrible play calls made for an easy night for the LSU secondary. Still having said that, the overall speed of the D, very impressive. quick pursuit..at times it seemed like they had 20 guys on the feild.....

and a last note about the game....i'm left wondering about MSU's defense. i want to say i was impressed for 2 1/2 quarters with their defense....but then again, i wasn't real impressed with LSU's offense. they didn't do anything particularly well, and the play calling at times baffled me. Fortunately, they had a lot of short feilds to work with, great feild position all night, so i may be reading too much in to it....but one or the other is true....MSU either has another solid defense or LSU's offense isn't what some think it is....

that VT game now has become much more interesting to me....two good defenses...should be an good old fashioned slobber knocker.

If you going to get over the learning curve for new kids and silly penalities then this was the game for LSU to do that. Went like I thought. MSU hangs tough until and half and LSU breaks out in the second half. They were on cue.

I think I have it figured out....
Henig thought that LSU was the home team and they were his players....since normally the home team does wear the colored jersey.

I can't remember the last time I saw an SEC qb play that poorly. There was a kid named Hi Lewis (if I recall correctly) at Vandy about 10 years ago - went on the road at Miss. St. and had 2 picks, a fumble, and an incomplete pass in his only 4 plays as a starter....at least Widenhofer was smart enough to pull him...can't say the same for Croom.

I'm a little late, but Miss St. is absolutely horrible. And Henig ,good grief, I feel sorry for him. I'm very interested in the VT-LSU matchup.
