LSU vs USC SUDDENLY has my interest...

Umm yeah.

My post about that was brought to you courtesy of one Mr John Walker.

Please disregard it lol.. I swear I'm not a moron hehe.
Oh yeah, I too know Mr. Walker. SOB has misled me a few times! Maybe more than a few times🤣. Oh well, I’ve become a light weight as I’ve gotten older.

The thing that really scares me is; that between Napier at Florida and Kelly at LSU; one of these schools is going to wise up soon and hire Kiffin. Then you will have one of the best recruiting footprints in America paired with a gifted coach who knows what to do with it. If that happens; even Kirby will be made to look like a fool. Kiffin would rule CFB
You're giving em too much credit

Of course, but it's still silly to think he ran from the SEC.
Ain't a darn thing wrong with taking the USC job.
I could see it being built into a power house again.
Talent is everywhere, like Florida, Texas and Louisiana.
That was what was widely reported.

Why did Lincoln Riley leave Oklahoma? USC lures coach away from Sooners in stunning move | Sporting News

"According to a report from George Wrightster III of Fox Sports Radio, Riley was not a fan of the Sooners' impending move to the SEC:

Riley is 1-3 all time against SEC teams while coach of the Sooners. Those include a 54-48 overtime loss to No. 3 Georgia in the 2018 Rose Bowl; a 45-34 loss to No. 1 Alabama in the 2018 Orange Bowl; and a 63-28 loss to No. 1 LSU in the 2019 Peach Bowl. Each of those losses came in the semifinal of the College Football Playoff.

Riley's only victory over an SEC team came against Dan Mullen's Gators in the 2020 Cotton Bowl. The Sooners won 55-20 over a Gators team that would go on to fire Mullen in the next year and saw several of its top players opt out ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft."

I’ve been trying to figure out who Brian Kelly is comparable to. I’m starting to think he’s going to be LSU’s Mark Richt. I don’t think he’s going to win a title in Baton Rouge. He’ll have some good teams, maybe some really good teams, but he’ll never be able to quite get over the hump. There’s just something that seems off w/ him there and I don’t know what it is. People will think I’m crazy for saying this, but at this point Lester Miles was a better coach than Kelly. Les’ teams didn’t lose games like they did last night, not early on at least.
I honestly have no idea who to compare him to. I can see a Mark Richt comparison, but that is good enough to win a title at LSU. I don't think you need to be an elite or even really good coach to win a title there; The Hat and O both winning them is the best evidence of that. That state puts out a ton of talent per capita, and there's no in-state competition for it. Saban even alluded to this himself the other day when he said something about shaking a tree in Louisiana and skill guys fall out of it.

At ND, I actually think he was unfairly maligned/cast as overrated. I don't think ND in the modern era is a particularly easy place to win. There are certainly more difficult places to win, but ND is not UGA, LSU, Ohio St, or (Big 12) Oklahoma. He played for a title, finished 11th or better 6 of the last 7 seasons, and went 113-40 there. He did get blown off the field by Bama in that title game, which I think is what a lot of fans of SEC teams remember him solely for, which is a bit unfair.

At LSU, his tenure has been more difficult to gauge so far. He beat Alabama and won the West in his first year and had a Heisman winner in his second year. Then again, LSU isn't paying him all that money to win the SEC West and lose 3 games with a Heisman QB. He's also a really odd fit there culturally (the accent thing when he was first hired matters) and I could see him having an incredibly short leash if things started to really head south. They had LSU football embodied in human before coaching there previously, and they only gave him about 15 games of .500 ball before they ran him off. O was a little uneven there for his first 2 full seasons before breaking through in Year 3 (he lost to Troy in 2017 and was blown off the field by Alabama in 2018).
