Jordy is doing so well and I'm so happy for her. But do we have to play media victim constantly (and inaccurately) to be proud? Jordy was far from lacking media attention and praise at TN. The media and coaches voted her all SEC twice and honorable mention All American. She was the subject of a ton of nice interviews, articles, etc. In fact, the media pegged her to be drafted much higher than the WNBA coaches chose to do. She landed in a great spot and is doing the work and showing the results. She doesn't need retro invented butt hurt!
TN fans are not the only ones who do this and by far not the worst. Boston is tearing the WNBA up, and 99% of the tweets about her claim she was doubted as a college player and her success in the league is pay back! Has any college athlete EVER been as widely deified as Boston in the NCAA? IMO it's an insult to not just enjoy these players' success w/o inventing victimhood for them.
UConn players non factors in the pros? WTF? 15, yes 15 of them made opening day WNBA rosters. Stewie, Collier, even the elderly Taursi (barf) and many others are definitely factors. Their rookie Dorka, who truly got zero media love, is doing very well.
No, they're not. Glory hasn't played in the W in several years. Rae was on the Sparks roster last season, got waived this year, briefly picked up on hardship but is gone again. Rennia Davis has never caught on. Diamond and Izzy are both out indefinitely w serious injuries. Currently the only LV players in the league are CP, Mercedes, and Jordan. CP is obviously headed to retirment and Mercedes, after several good yrs in Seattle, is seeing her mins diminished. Depending on how Izzy and DD are able to come back and whether Rickea translates to the W (as she's highly likely to do), JH may be carrying the banner almost alone next year. So I'd be careful throwing around "nonfactor in the W" comments.
