Mac McClung

There is no way Pember is giving up his scholarship to walk on.

Agreed. I see this idea floated quite often, but realistically what person would give up a full-ride scholarship to become a walk-on? The only way Mac is getting on this team is if someone leaves and I’m not sure I’d trade any of our current guards for Mac. The only one I’d even consider is Gaines, but he has a lot of upside IMO. Not sure I’m ready to give up on that yet.

I know a lot of people like Gaines. He does give 110% when he plays, but I'll take that trade all day

I don't know about that. He has what you want in a player. He worked his way into the rotation and stayed in the roation despite not having the physical stature needed. I think we got 2-3 that are closer to looking into transferring this year or next year before Gaines.

I think it's possible for one year only if it goes to a much needed big in the post. He needs to also redshirt to get stronger. His step father is president of an energy company. Getting funds back to the family to compensate them would be a layup.

No way. For one year of McClung? Crazy talk. He's not Larry Bird.

Edit: He has 2 years of eligibility. Makes him more appealing, but not enough for me to lose Gaines, though it is much closer. I'd have to think on that one.

I’d much prefer Pons return or we fill that spot with another highly touted big man. But if McClung can get his waiver then I guess we can just play mostly small ball next year. Still, I’m not crazy high on McClung. I live in Georgetown and go to many of their games. I think he is a fine player but he isn’t any better than the guards we’ll have on the team next year outside of Gaines as I said earlier.

Like someone said this kid is a human highlight reel!...I would love to see him at UT!
I believe a transfer year out would be better for him to increase his endurance and strength. He missed the last 10 or so games because of ankle issues if I remember correctly. Don’t be deceived by his 1-1 assist to turnover ratio. Until Akinjo left the team , no player had much of a chance to make an assist. Mac actually is a good passer and has above average court awareness. He can be a valuable part of UT’s rotation.
