Mack Brown out at Texas

It still makes zero sense to me for Saban to leave Alabama and go to Texas. What would be the point? At best, that is a lateral move. Yes Texas would offer him a ton of money but I'm sure Alabama would do it's best to match it. At least enough to where Nick wouldn't want the headache of relocating and starting all over at the collegiate level.

It would make MUCH more sense to me for Saban to leave Alabama to go back to the NFL because success at that level is still something he has yet to accomplish. If Saban moves to Texas, it's either to coach the Cowboys or the Texans.

I've also thought about that my friend..Who walks from that type of success and great rec class....But in the end, i think TX is a better job. Easier conference to go unbeaten( a 12/13 and 0 TX team is going to be top 2 or 3, just like Notre Dame is annually overrated), the best in state rec in the country, TX has deeper wallets than bama, and the women have all their teeth.

Not to mention there's more than one family tree.

Not one of our finer moments and it didn't go over well. There are still people pissed about how that was handled.

Pretty sure I would have taken the University credit card, hired a Gulfstream to fly me to the Bahamas and went on a three day bender on their dime had that happened to me.

Our coaching situations the past few years has made us look bad, because we got turned down so many times. Texas is starting to look bad, because they need to put out an official word immediately. IMO

@thatsean: Yes I can confirm what @chipbrownOB reported that there will be a new head football coach at the University of Texas in 2014.

Win 3 NCs at 3 different schools, for one.

Not compete against a rising Auburn for (more limited) instate talent.

He's two NCs away from tying for the most ever. Where is he more likely to accomplish that?

And he has not done worse than 5th nationally in recruiting since 2008, even when AU won the NC. The class that is currently committed might wind up as one of the greatest since recruiting rankings have been tracked.

Waning years? Really?

So Bama is gonna cap any extension to 2 years. You know, since he is in his waning years.

He has an indefinite contract at this point. No extension will ever be anything more than customary. At 62, how long do you think he'll keep going?

Not having death threats thrown at his players for not winning three straight national championships.

You think there won't be pressure to succeed at TX? With his track record? And a contract that would almost certainly exceed anything currently paid out in college or the NFL? Have you ever looked at a Texas message board?

We fired Sherman while he was on a recruiting trip too. The kid's mother informed him of it while he was in her driveway. Then Byrne called him.

In hindsight though, the kid committed anyway so theres always that.

Also Tubberville left TTech while with a recruit.

Makes a lot of sense really. With his ego I bet he wants to be the only college Coach ever to win NC at 3 different schools.

Honestly - who knows what motivates Saban. All we know is that he is motivated to win. I wouldn't be shocked if he left or stayed but would be happier with one of those outcomes...

He's already the only one to do it at two. Why would winning it at three be more appealing that winning the most ever?
