Magallanes (UT -Purdue MCB ref)

Right, call them as they happen! so you are saying holding should be called every play? Cause it happen every play.
Absolutely, but I’m trying to reasonable here. Stop lying about what you see and calling things that didn’t happen, first.

I hit a site called "Buckeye Planet" and they apparently have a thread dedicated to "BMW" for the upcoming game.

A "Bitch, Moan, and Whine" thread which can be used in the game, apparently, to avoid clogging up the board and game thread with nonsense.

It's not a terrible idea that mods could throw all the whining into a single cesspool thread for each game.
That's a good idea in principle, but some idiots will still clutter the game thread.

The ACC choose the crew to represent their conference. They hate the SEC. It is all about recruiting. As far as this ref is concerned, yea it is a slap in the face to select his crew. Mentally it can cause problems but who knows.
The ACC has a chip on their soldiers so get over it, life ain't fair.
Tennessee just do your job. Wright sits in the NFL and this ref is still doing his lousy jobs.
I think CJH pisses off refs and they don't like him.
How does the ACC come into the conversation?

No, you said you know what the end result should look like, what is that result?

Most would much rather the call be made and then look at the replay to get it right, than a no call.

Because the crew does not have a bias against UT. Let it go dude! The past is the past. I thrive off guys like you when in a golf tournament, I only have to remind them of the time I kicked their ass and their mind is toast

Holding on to that much anger and hate for a ref crew cannot be healthy. Especially when they have done nothing to you personally.
You can’t replay the call when you get it wrong on forward progress.

On that particular player, the replay would have been for touchdown or not
It’s funny that you’ve been so involved on a topic that you know so little about. Again when they blow the whistle that forward progress has been stopped the play is over and cannot be reviewed.

How about we just beat the crap outta them so the refs won't be a factor? Dana White says it best, "NEVER leave it in the hands of the judges". If we lose, it's our fault. Not the stupid referees.
That’s a concept the blame the ref mafia in here won’t even contemplate. If we lose a playoff game, they will blame the refs. It happens in every sport and the same ones do it virtually every game.

You really think that game has that kind of importance for them to remember it?
Every referee crew in every sport meet up at P.F. Changs in Atlanta once a month along with broadcast crews of every network and AP voters. They discuss their strategy for sabotaging Tennessee teams and then they report to Greg Sankey for approval. The NCAA officials also are involved but they have allergies that prevent them from eating at Chang's.

Its definitely okay to point out a guy that missed two obvious calls.

Does "home cooking" with officiating happen? Sure it does. Just look at the UGA/Texas game earlier in the year where they reversed a call on the field because of the crowd (even though the initial call was indeed egregious).

But it also doesn't happen to the extent that people think it does. Refs do indeed take pride in their work and they do have standards they must meet.

99.9% of them aren't being given stacks of cash in their locker, nor do they have money riding on the games. They have to make decisions on the spot while also trying to straddle the line of letting the players play and "missing" too many penalties.

Since it's an SEC vs B1G game, they picked refs from another conference to avoid bias.

Sadly, they apparently picked an awful crew from the ACC according to many here, though I do respect the point made by a guy here who is part of a crew: the actual Referee didn't make those line calls, the line judge did. That those calls weren't fixed on review is not good but I'd like to place the blame for the call on the member of the crew who called it, not just the crew chief.

I don't think it's about pointing out bad calls, but about insinuating that when bad calls happen it's because of an anti-Temnessee agenda. I can't speak for others, but that's what I find exhausting, is when some fans always complain about referees being anti-UT, it being fixed by the league, calls only going one way, etc etc etc.

I have a feeling this is going to be a problem.

Ohio State averages half the penalties per game that UT does per the NCAA stats website.

It's a game between SEC and B1G teams though. But how the ACC refs got our game has been explained.
Ok. I understand that would not have wanted B10 or SEC refs as well because of conflicts. Having the ACC refs would be fine if not for close proximity to our conference, recruiting area and with Refs that have a previous history with us in the PostSeason. Leaves us with B12 refs.

Since the thread mentions Purdue, what is the deal with that school. We lost in BB a few years ago when the replay clearly showed our guy never touched the guy attempting a 3 pt shot. In FB a few years ago the replay clearly showed our guy broke the plane in OT. Last year they let the big clumsy guy pulverize our players and looked the other way. In all 3 games the refs clearly stole likely wins from us. Tell me I’m wrong! Refs who make game changing calls like this need to be held accountable. For mistakes like these they need to be suspended.

Lovely. With the advent of HD replay cameras, missing calls such as the ones listed is absolutely inexcusable as a major sport official. High school officials consistently get it right without replay.
