OK, getting a little concerned here about what is going on with his recovery. He has been continuing to practice with the team, but not playing in games. I was on board with those thinking we were just holdiing him out until conference play to be sure, but now he is sitting for the Florida game too?! Watched him jump around yelling getting the team jacked up pre-game at Oregon, but can't play? Anyone with more detail on the injury and why its not healing? (Randolph, same injury, only three to four weeks removed)

:hi:

agree mental plays an important role, but with him being one of the leaders of the team, I would think he would be chomping at the bit to de-cleat some gators.

coming back from an injury like that is not all physical

The only way to get over the mental aspect is to play. If he is physically recovered, he needs to be in there. He apparently isn't there yet for whatever reason.

The team needs him. Hopefully he does make a full recovery. I'm starting to doubt he plays this season.

This team definitley needs his skill sets on the field ASAP. Last year, even though he was fighting turf toe, he was a play maker that seemed to raise the playing level of his teammates. Really hoping to see that push/speed coming off the edge to chase down the jort wearing QB.

he's practicing but isn't there in his head. Not something anyone but CM can fix for himself

False. The training staff is holding him out because of symptoms he is experiencing after going hard on the knee.

I do not believe he will redshirt, even if he doesn't return until Georgia or South Carolina. He was high on NFL boards before his injury, and a redshirt isn't going to keep him in school an extra year.

I think they're just not rushing him back onto the field because we'll need him for the closing stretch if we want to exonerate bowl eligible.

What good does it do us for this year or next if we rush him back and he aggravates his injury again?

from Fortenberry

He's practiced the last few weeks and even last week at Oregon he was warming up with the team before they went in and put on pads. I would have bet money he was going to play because that was the first time we saw him do that.

He's not practiced as much with the first few units this week which to me means there's something he's got to get over mentally because physically he seems, from what we've seen and heard, somewhat ready to go.
he may be held out now but sounds like he has been on the practice field recently

On a side note-- I was just thinking about how many of our players (whether they pan out or not in the NFL) lately have been leaving or are looking to leave after their Junior year(talent) and yet look at our record.... sheesh! crazy....

Dont agree with this at all. I think he comes back no matter what.

Was thinking the same thing. Makes much more sense... thanks for the clarification.

I agree, but selfishly I want him back to help the team now!

MY guess is he has no lateral movement yet. Would have been of no use vs Oregon.

Florida should be a North - South kind of game, so hopefully he can contribute.

I believe Brian Randolph did the same thing last year in the FL game....

Maggit tore his in the 3rd to last game of the season. It makes sense that he's about 6 weeks behind Randolph. Remember Randolph was able to play at 80% in the spring. I don't think Maggit could even run full speed at that time.

Plus Maggit has more weight to bare on that leg of his. LB is a physical position.

I want him to play as much as anyone, but if he can be 100% for Mizzou, Auburn, Kentucky, and Vandy, let's wait, cause those are games we'll need him and can actually win.

REDSHIRT HIM PLEASE!!!!!
Our lack of speed at LB showed up big time at Oregon. A freshman TE was open all day against us. Let's bring back our fastest, and probably best, LB 100% healthy next year.
