Maggitt Sidelined Again?!

Derrick rose 2.0

Just kidding. He will do what's best for him and we all have to be okay with it. Keep supporting him. Gotta start thinking about a redshirt though.

He should go when he is ready. May be saving him for the November games that we have a great chance to win. We have a chance to win the next 4, but if he is not ready, save him for November.

REDSHIRT HIM PLEASE!!!!!
Our lack of speed at LB showed up big time at Oregon. A freshman TE was open all day against us. Let's bring back our fastest, and probably best, LB 100% healthy next year.

I have to agree with this. Having Curt for an extra year would be a great benefit, especially after A.J. is gone. We're so young at that position, we will need the help. If he's not back for this week, I say redshirt him if you can. Our D is going to struggle this year anyways, with such an inept offense.

Maggitt injured a ligament in his foot during the first game last year, and played with turf toe until he tore his ACL. For the sake of his career at Tennessee and beyond, a full rehab makes good sense. Nobody can say how long that will take. He'll be ready when he is ready.

From what I've seen this year I think AJ should stay. Def does not look ready. The NFL is a pass league these days and he really struggles w that.

He's only a junior... If he can play at least 5 games this season he should. He can make an impact in those late coin flip games and help us get to a bowl.

He will be back next season fully healthy, hopefully, and ready for a huge senior year.

The kid has NFL potential. A redshirt does him no good unless he cannot get over this by mid october.

OK, getting a little concerned here about what is going on with his recovery. He has been continuing to practice with the team, but not playing in games. I was on board with those thinking we were just holdiing him out until conference play to be sure, but now he is sitting for the Florida game too?! Watched him jump around yelling getting the team jacked up pre-game at Oregon, but can't play? Anyone with more detail on the injury and why its not healing? (Randolph, same injury, only three to four weeks removed)

:hi:

He's soft.

Don't know what's going on but I hope he is on the field very soon. Man we need him in this Florida game.

He's been ruled out for the Florida game right? That means he's almost missed half the season already. I would not be at all surprised if he redshirts

No. Everyone should be Adrian Peterson. I'm tired of this garbage. Man up, Curt. It only takes a few weeks to recover from an ACL tear.

That is the most idiotic post I have ever read. I watched my daughter recover from ACLs to both her knees and it takes a heck of a lot longer than "a few weeks". :bash:

Not every ACL injury can be expected to be game ready in 9-10 mos, every injury is different. With Maggit, it may indeed be a good idea for a RS season, I'm not convinced he would change the course of this season one iota.

Hell YES! This sissified weakness is what you get, when you start serving water at practice, like it's some country club.

Now eat a handful of salt tablets and get out on the field!

Its been a mental hurdle for him to let loose and play, and they can't put him in a game until he plays without thinking about it in practice. Been posting that and it hasn't changed, which is also the reason a redshift has been and still is a possibility.

Dont agree with this at all. I think he comes back no matter what.

I was referring to coming back for an extra 5th year in 2015. He's not going to do that, which is why a redshirt isn't likely. He's definitely coming back in 2014, that's not what I meant.

from Fortenberry

he may be held out now but sounds like he has been on the practice field recently

He has practiced in some form every day. But he has not been cleared to play in games by the training staff because of a physical issue, not a mental one.

Hubbs reported that he felt it was a mental hurdle, and everyone took that as gospel. But Hubbs was making a guess, and he's completely wrong.

I disagree 100% with your last sentence.

My daughter torn her ACL and never was able to return to full speed play (soccer)...even after multiple surgeries and rehabs she couldn’t play long without lots of swelling...just saying, there are no guarantees for full recovery...I hope he does recover but that’s not a sure thing...
