Majors on Butch: Best UT Coach in 10 Years

Well, there you are from one of the winningest coaches in UT His...........oh wait.

Sly gets it. Majors was a great player for UT, but an average to slightly above average coach for most of his career. His ego, however, is as strong as ever.

It's one of the most enduring personal vendettas of all time.

Very underrated post. Majors does his legacy a huge disservice very time he opens his mouth and makes one of his now patented thinly masked jabs at Fulmer.

I love Majors, but his attacks on Fulmer are low class and they have long since worn thin.

I think they're funny. He's one of three UT's coaches that has won a NC, let him talk.

Allow me to help you with the part you left out...

Majors - 137 losses, 10 ties

Fulmer - 52 losses

Thanks

But I was pointing out that an "average" coach had more wins, just as many NCs, and more SEC titles than Fulmer

Does that make Fulmer"below average"?

No one will stop him from talking. That's the problem.

It's just the way Johnny is. Id like to see a recent pic of Fulmer and Majors next to the Neyland statue together, but it's probably not gonna happen. It's probably a topic that will be brought up for a long time and im looking forward to talking about it.

C'mon Count... I said "average to slightly above average" (seems you have a bit of a bad habit of referencing only partial information).

As for the rest of your comment, of course Majors had more wins than Fulmer... he coached nearly twice as long!

And yet... Majors had only 4 seasons finishing in the top 10, and another 4 seasons finishing in the top 20, while Fulmer had 6 seasons finishing in the top 10, and another 6 seasons finishing in the top 20 (in just over half the time that Major's coached). So technically, I guess that would make Fulmer a better coach.

Johnny Majors has earned the right to say whatever the hell he wants to say about Tennessee football. Just nod y'alls head and move on.

+ 1000000000000000000

He's a VOL legend......and a VOL treasure.....

So is Fulmer......

I don't know what really happened between these two VOLS back in 1992....as a fan, I just know it appeared that the team was ready for Phil to be their coach--and played for him...

But make no mistake--Majors re-built the program and established the foundation for Phil's run to the NC.....

I celebrate them both--and really believe that CBJ will bring another NC to Knoxville! GO VOLS!

I'd like to see something like that, too.

BS - no one person is bigger than the program, I don't care what they've accomplished. He's bitter, petty, and holds onto a grudge and jealousy like a 13 year old girl. Grow up, Majors.
