Exactly. He is not likely to see the field this year with the depth at WR and S. But, they like him and he is going to definately see the field as a Junior. He is going to be a good one and he will have a chance to do it at either WR or S. I think this move is just basically to give him more flexibilty so they can carry him on the travel squad. If they are only playing 5 WR and he is not one of them they still want him to travel because he is that good.

I don't see what you guys can't understand about it.

AUSTIN ROGERS IS NOT PERMANENTLY MOVING TO DB. He is mainly a WR but helping on defense because of a lack of depth at safety. He has a good chance at making the top 5 WR over Briscoe. Briscoe still lacks that great speed we want. He is mainly a possession WR and Rogers has that breakaway ability that Briscoe lacks. Rogers also is a threat on reverses and other trick plays. Rogers has also caught the attention of Cutcliffe, as has Taylor, Swain, and Meachem.

I don't see why you assume discussion of a topic means that we don't understand that topic. We have just been speculating if this temporary move is a possible harbinger of a permanent move to DB. If he does well in practice on defense, I wouldn't be surprised if he switched over to D more permanently. Then again, he might be a guy we can use on both sides of the ball. Demetrice Morley practiced a little at WR, but I don't see that as a permanent move. They may just design a few plays specifically for him. Likewise, Rogers might be used as a dimeback in obvious passing situations. If he's as fast as everyone claims, he might make a good safety in 3rd and long-type situations. This is all speculation. I am not confused.

This move is no different than Morley's. Had Justin Garrett made it in, Rogers wouldn't even be considered to help the D. Other than Stewart, Morley, and Hefney, we don't have many safety candidates. Rogers is likely one of those guys they just want to see on the field, ala Morley.

I like that we have different viewpoints, but this is a small piece of evidence that you're insane. :)

It just depends on how well the deal with losing over 90% of their offense.

Yup, that will be important, but if any school in the entire nation has recruited the kids to stay on top, its been USC. USC also has an insanely easy road schedule.

1. Tennessee wins Eastern Division
2. Erik Ainge or Arian Foster are Heisman Trophy Finalists.
3. Alabama wins Western Division
4. Clemson will flounder and fire Tommy Bowden
5. Vols defeat Tide in SEC Championship game, making it the first time in history that the Vols have beaten the Bammers twice in a season.

Also, Georgia Tech will not have a good season and Yellow Jackets will talk of how great Bobby Dodd was.

Whoa, whoa, whoa big daddy don't pop a blood vessel. Can you pinpoint in someones post where we said he WAS MOVING PERMANENTLY?? We were discussing this season and the fact that due to lack of depth at S and good depth at WR they moved him because they are impressed with him and if he doesn't get on the field at WR maybe he can get on the field and help us somwhere else. It was a compliment....

I think it is just the notion that a guy in limbo would have a breakout year is freaky. Then again, Mark Jones did both... and did it well.

1) this will be Stoops last year in college ball
2) bammer wins a max 7 games, more likely 6 (and Auburn gets the thumb  )
3) UT wins the east and ends season in top-15
4) someone finally realizes that WV needs to eventually play a meaningful game in the regular season
5) Iowa finally lives up to hype and finishes in the top-10

I just think that Rogers may be the best 2 way player on the team. I think Morley could be good too, but I think he would ad-lib more at wideout than run precise routes.

3. 3 loss ND team is awarded spot in NC game.

1) Louisville stomps WVU, wins the Big East, and earns spot in the NC game
2) Tennessee from the east plays Arkansas from the west for the SEC title
3) OSU averages 45 points a game but allows 56 and goes 0-12 (living near Columbus, you have no idea how much I would love to see this happen)
4) Northern Illinois beats OSU in the first week of the season, triggering more whining and excuse-making than ever recorded in human history

And....

5) Navy goes unbeaten, including a win over Notre Dame. Chris Fowler's head explodes, Lee Corso jinxes Navy by picking them to win a bowl game, and Bob Davie bursts into tears on national TV. After ritual hara-kiri is committed in South Bend and Bristol, CT, Adam Ballard is awarded the Heisman and the key to the cities.

And a bonus one...

6) When UT wins the SEC, Jim Donnan bursts into flames in the ESPN studio in retribution for practically wetting himself last year after the disaster against Vandy

1. Tennessee will lose 3 or 4 games.
2. Notre Dame will lose 3 games, bowl included.
3. West Virginia will be a complete bust. They will lose one or two of their first 5 games.
4. Georgia will only lose 2 games.
5. Virginia Tech, flying under the radar, will win the ACC.

You really think that Tech is flying under the radar? They're going to be pretty good this year now that Vick is gone.

1. Tennessee Volunteers lose only once to LSU in an OT loss by a field goal
2. Stanford goes 10-1 after last years 5-6, losing only to USC
3. JoePa announces retirement before the end of the 06 season
4. Weiss and ND lose 4 games this season
5. Nebraska wins the big 12, upsetting Texas

Hey Dan, welcome back! I strongly disagree with all 5 of these, but they are gutsy. :)

I meant it to sound like they won't be as overrated as they were last year... perhaps. Not having Vick also went along with me thinking they'll be pretty good.
