Malpractice use of TOs

Barnes has really been using his TOs more effectively lately IMO.

The one he called today to stop the run almost paid huge dividends.

He called one with around 5 minutes left after their sports center type dunk to put them up 11. We immediately went on a good run and had it to 4 with 2 minutes to go.

Good to see him changing his thinking. Makes me even more confused why he didn't use the TOs like this earlier in the year

No inside game + no defense = bad road record.

Jump shots don't travel. Defense and rebounding does. Hoops 101

Barnes has a regular season coaching and Tourney coaching style and use of TO's. During regular season he likes the players to play through stuff,Morrow figure things out. Tourney season he will use time outs to halt runs. When I as told this by a coach earlier this season about Barnes, I said he has 4 seniors on the squad and will have a small margin of error to make the CBI. He needs to use his time outs.

I thought our defense was very solid for 30min tonight. The first 10 was an abortion but Barnes went zone after that and we were very good

Also the rebounding wasn't the problem. Offensive boards were a wash and they beat us soundly overall but that was Because of how many more shots we took than them. We turned them over a heck of a lot

The biggest problem was we got a "staggering" 4 points from our bench. You can gripe about a lot of things, but at the end of the day only 5 guys helped offensively yesterday.

No doubt it was a rough day for the bench but their minutes were down dramatically as well. Hubbs, AS, and Mostella all played much less than normal

HELL OF A JOB BY RICK BARNES TODAY

Used 1 first half TO and 1 2nd half TO to stop runs by candy

So proud he evolved over the course of this year and made that change

No doubt today was his best in game coaching job

Heck that was some the best use of TOs in a college basketball game I've seen period, much less the best Barnes has done it.

Yep

Very impressed with him today

Very hard year to understand really

Hubbs and Mostella back in the serious mix.

Reese plays 35min

Crazy turn of events

Anybody else tear up watching moore fall to the court when the official waved off the basket?

I did. I love that guy. I would want that dude in my bunker any freaking day
Wow, I did. I felt that emotion. He was overwhelmed with that decision. I'm happy for him

I didn't tear up, but I was happy as hell for him and the seniors. They've been through a helluva lot. They deserve some joy.

The guy doing the color today tweeted this out about Armani.

No. I was cussing the chicken **** refs that took five minutes to make the obvious correct call. When they first went to the replay an official behind the table (on the right) said "it was good". They knew in a minute the shot was late and were afraid to make the damn call.

I was afraid they were going to say it was good and let them play it out. Thank goodness for replay. It was clearly still in his hand. I don't know if we would've had 5 more minutes left in us. Our guys looked tired down the stretch. Only played 7 guys.

I don't blame them at all. Had to look at all angles multiple times before overturning that kind of play

First replay showed the ball still clearly in his hand and the light on. I'm just glad we didn't foul him. That would've been brutal if he got the bucket +1 to win before time ran out.

I kept thinking there might be another angle that showed a slight separation out of the hand

That's why I don't mind them continuing to look

They knew in the first minute. They spent the next four minutes weighing their options... reverse it to the correct call and take **** for missing it in the first place or don't reverse it and look like fools in the national media for blowing the call.

WKU coming on

Think your coach is safe now

Shouldn't be, but this is his MO. Hover around .500 most of the year and then make conference tournament runs. If he wasn't a local boy, who is at his dream job and married to a WKU alumnus, he would've been run off. The fanbase wanted to run Darrin Horn off, despite winning 70% of his games because he didnt have any NCAAT appearances until his final season. Then the magical SW16 run saved his job and he gave WKU the middle finger by parlaying it into an SEC gig.
