What they mean is he came back to a team full of players he had recruited. He had to recruit Marshall after he came back. We could have recruited Marshall-did we?

Malzahn has much more talent than we do and if you disagree, I am sorry. Chizik sucked as a coach; not in recruiting.

Not really if you'd use your brain. If Malzahn is our coach maybe we still lose to Oregon but maybe only by 3 points. Then we beat Georgia and are close against Alabama and maybe even beat or are close to Missouri and then we beat Auburn because they don't have Malzahn and we do and we are 6-4. Then we beat Vandy and Ky and are 8-4 and top 25.

Yea right. Give me an f-in break.

What does this have to do with anything? The point was that Malzahn has his own QB because he recruited him.

Someone asked why Jones didn't recruit him, that's one of the reasons and the other was is he was a DB turned QB. I wouldn't have risked it either.

There are certain coaches who win no matter where they go and no matter what the talent-Bruce Pearl for instance. Malzahn is one of those.

If anyone thought Malzahn did a great job of coaching today, they do not understand the condition of the TN football program.

But then he wasted time going after Mike Gundy-like Mike Gundy was going to leave Oklahoma State? And, that he was even a good hire? Not impressed at all. I believe if Malzahn was our coach this year we would be a top 25 team. He is one of those coaches who can make lemonade out of lemons.

Relax...you can not coach speed you do not have...next year will be the beginning of a faster and improved team. Malzahn had something Butch did not have this year...better talent and team speed.

That's the point. You wouldn't have risked it and neither did Jones. But Malzahn did.

North is a 4.4 guy and so is Pig. Neal is a 4.3 guy. Malzahn would figure out a way to use that speed.

Wonder why Malzahn didn't want to go to Vandy? He is a good coach, but to suggest that the talent at Auburn is equivalent to UT is silly. Malzahn has talent at his disposal.

Auburn won no SEC games last year with these great players. You'd think if the players were that great they'd have won at least one game.

You can talk all you want about lack of talent--but I GUARANTEE you there are coaches out there who would do better with the talent we have. And be that I mean, at least be /more competitive./ Is Malzahn, on offensive side, one of them? Probably. When you play as bad as we have, you've got issues with talent AND coaching.

They may have that kind of speed in practice, but they look like 5.0 guys during the game. I doubt if Malzahn could figure that out before, during, or after the game.

guy who I hoped we would go after when Dooley was fired but I think Hart was very slow off the blocks-what was his comment?- "We have all the time in the world" or words to that effect. Hart has not impressed me at all.

i agree i said gus was a better coach than people gave him credit for when they hired him and was flamed by the usual people that don't know much on the board. i thought he was a better coach than jones then and i still do now. the verdict is still out on jones, but there has to be some changes to this best staff in america.

It helps having "his" players in house already.

^This

They also were already running HIS system. He was only gone for one year. They've also recruited consistently well since winning the NC.

Had we not had a special teams meltdown today the score may not have gotten out if hand. The way it did.
