Yes, that is a great season and he is a great coach, although i maintain the schedule is not as difficult as a lot. But the point I was trying to make at first is he did not coach an absolutely phenomenal game today because UT was outmatched talent wise and that was their undoing, so ultimately he never had to make any decisions that would make you wonder about his coaching abilities.

Kind of like when Dooley and co. took on NC State last year.

Good point. But I still believe beating LSU and TAMU in his first season means he can coach.Anyway we have a tough game ahead. I think we have really regressed over the last 3 weeks Here's hoping we can beat Vandy

Insisting something is wrong with someone you don't know is actually a psychological phenomenon.

I admit I should not have cursed, it just p.o'd me that everyone jumped all over me for stating something so minor.

Anyways... You might want to get that checked out.

If you get p.o'd at a message board you really need to think about your anger issues. Especially when we all want the same thing here.

P.S.-I was encourage about Jones earlier in the year only for one reason-the way our special teams were playing. That is an indication of good coaching because special teams aren't about talent but about desire. The last three games they've regressed horribly so now I'm more than concerned.

The reason I'm angry is because my team just got smashed at home, I don't know if you care or not though.

Now stop making assumptions.

Would you like me to ASSUME that you're a pansy who doesn't know how to handle an argument?

Yes but don't make it personal. Argue the point not the person. I'm very concerned we got smashed at home and I think the team has quit on the coach and we don't win another. I don't care if we go 0-12 as long as the team plays hard for the coach. Then we get everything out of the talent we have. We're not playing hard for the coach. I am mortified.

Not really if you'd use your brain. If Malzahn is our coach maybe we still lose to Oregon but maybe only by 3 points. Then we beat Georgia and are close against Alabama and maybe even beat or are close to Missouri and then we beat Auburn because they don't have Malzahn and we do and we are 6-4. Then we beat Vandy and Ky and are 8-4 and top 25.

Um.......what?

I'm worried about the defense a lot. I feel they have regressed, but I still think they're playing hard. Jancek just needs to get them in better positions to make plays. I like Butch a lot as a coach and I'm really not concerned with the offense as much as some other people are.

They lost to LSU but it was a good game till the end and it was at LSU. I think they'd beat LSU on a neutral site now. I don't think they'll beat Bama but it should be a good game. I think they beat Georgia.

My brain just cannot comprehend how anybody could post something so ludicrous.

guy who I hoped we would go after when Dooley was fired but I think Hart was very slow off the blocks-what was his comment?- "We have all the time in the world" or words to that effect. Hart has not impressed me at all.

As many have said, he had his players already. In a couple of weeks they will be stomped by Bama.

He also has three top 10 recruiting classes to work with. That will make a lot of coaches look good.

Anyway, this whole conversation is ridiculous.

CGM is a good offensive coach. He and Cam were the reasons they won that championship. Their departures made AU suck last year because CGC is inept. He's back after only 1 year gone (in which CGC continued to recruit well) and he's basically picked up where he left off.

CBJ's situation is totally different. UT is learning a new system, with coaches who are unfamiliar and a hot and cold recent recruiting history under Dooley. That combined with the stark contrasts in the scheduling difficulty makes this comparing apples and oranges.

There's a lot more to coaching than choosing the plays. His coaching is one of the reasons those plays worked so well. The other reason is a talent disparity.
There's one saying in football..."if a team sees you struggling with something, you can bet you'll see more of it."

Problem is, Janzek had no answer for Mauck last week, and none for Marshall. It's every bit as much a problem with coaching as it is with talent. We make no adjustments. It was that way with Western Ky and South Alabama. If we can't out-coach WKU and South Alabama on defense, then what makes us think things will get better with more talent from this recruiting class?

I had my concerns with Janzek before the season began. They are magnified tenfold since.

Your post was the definition of lunacy.

No, maybe lunacy is when you post 16,608 times on a message board between 2008 and 2013. Let's see, 5 years, that's roughly 3200 posts per year. That's
about 8.5 posts per day for 5 years. I think that's lunacy.

Seriously. Auburn can still sell the national championship powerhouse thing to recruits. Gus has had a much easier road that CBJ. Ppl saying he is coach of the year are insane. His roster was already loaded with talent and he already had continuity with many of the players on the team. CBJ isn't coach of year either but we are all so caught up on these beat downs to see the silver lining. The teams that kicked the sh*t out of us are all legit top 10 teams...and we are not. It's a talent and depth thing. Plain and simple.

But don't forget that our astute, mature fan base was clamoring for that movie star Jon Gruden for a month and not wanting to settle for anything less. One public denial by Gruden wasn't enough. He had to rent a billboard on I-40 and I-81 to drive it home that he didn't want the job.

Yes. They are 9-1. Most likely to beat UGA and play Bama at 10-1 and at worst end up in a New Years DAT bowl. Pretty good for a first year coach.
Remember Bill Battle at UT 1970-1972
(11-1/10-2/10/2). We did play name teams like Penn State. starting in year 4 when he had all his own players he started to slide. Yes he did get some very good players from the foundation Dickey laid but not enough and that helped end his tenure. Lets see about Muschamp or Malzahn in a few years.
