Man of Steel

I don't get all the complaints about the damage in Metropolis. Nobody complained about it in The Avengers.

It wasnt this extreme. At one point it looked like a nuclear bomb had leveled the entire city. Then all of a sudden there was plenty more buildings to knock down.

Further more, Metropolis played little to no real role in the film.

I agree and as I said this was a battle between super-powered aliens and a machine trying to destroy the planet! What did you expect?

In the comics a lot of Metropolis gets destroyed every 6 months and in almost every animated film and if they go with Darksied , Mongul or Doomsday in one of sequels or in a Justice League film then it want be the last time it happens and it might be worse in the comic Doomsday cut a swath through half the country before he got to Metropolis.

So Doomsday created the most property damage of all Superman enemies in Canon Comic books?

Also about the female warrior being called Faora, and not Ursa there was no change they are Kryptonians that both have served General Zod but two different Characters.

Mongol completely destroyed Coast City. Of course Supermam was "Dead" at the time.

Man of Steel surpassed Star Trek Into Darkness today for the 4th spot for 2013.

Domestic Total as of Jun. 25, 2013: $219,812,745

Worldwide: $408,112,745

I've seen this movie twice, and it gets better every time you see it. Incredible film from top to bottom! A lot of people felt like the opening dragged out too long in Krypton, but personally I loved it. It was in depth, and lead up to Zod's overall intentions and reasoning for coming to Earth to pursue Superman. Crowe did an excellent job as Jor-El and Cavill made it known that he was the perfect choice as Superman. Also enjoyed Shannon's portrayal of Zod. The action sequences are out of this world. The world of Krypton looks awesome, and Superman kicks all sorts of ass in this movie. I won't give anything away, but there is a part at the very end that brings some shock factor. It's definitely not something that would be expected in a Superman movie, but it's all about choices. And Superman ultimately did what he had to do. Man Of Steel is epic, and you'll want to see it if you're a Superman fan or just a fan of superhero films in general! Best movie this year so far!

great movie but some of the shaky-cam cinematography was annoying, especially the quiet moment Clark has with his father after the bus incident

btw, did anybody else notice the name on the gasoline tanker Zod pummeled Superman with? It was only visible for a second, but it read "Lexcorp".

Despite the bad reviews. Thanks to word of mouth that this film is a lot better than the critics said has pushed Man of Steel to the #2 spot in this years box office totals so for behind Iron Man 3 and ahead of Oz The Great and Powerful.

Man of Steel now has an "estimated" domestic total of $248,660,000 and nowa "estimated" worldwide total of $520,360,000

Is anyone else tired of all these super hereo movies? Did Hollywood run out ideas recently? What's next, Aquaman the movie?

Possibly Aquaman is currently one of the top 10 DC Comics sold and was #25 in the Diamond Comics Top 100 for May.

Hollywood ran out of ideas a looooooooooong time ago. Nothing recent about it.

We're just finally at a point where technology lets us make decent super hero movies.

Give me twenty C list super hero movies over one more bad romance/comedy starring ryan reynolds and the lady from The Blindside.

Was watching a 3:00 AM showing of a Smallville episode a day or two ago from the first season probably one of the first three or four they made. It was about a girl using kryptonite to lose weight. I thought the girl look familiar then as the weight melted away and my suspicions were confirmed. One Amy Adams appeared.

I must admit it never crossed my mind, nor had i read anything about this connection. Color me surprised.

I wish they would put Smallville on Netflix. I watched the first few seasons, then got sidetracked and haven't watched it since. I wouldn't mind watching the later seasons, but I ain't buying DVDs.

There were actually several actors who played in Man of Steel who played in Smallville.

#1 - Amy Adams, played “meteor freak” Jodi Melville in the Season 1 episode "Craving"

#3 - Mackenzie Gray plays Jax-Ur in Man of Steel (tall bald Kryptonian that takes Superman's blood on Zod's ship) he played two diffrent character's on Smallville a doctor in Season 5’s episode "Cyborg" and as a old Lex Luthor clone in the Season 10 episode “Lazarus”.

#4 - Tahmoh Penikett (Emerson) in Man of Steel played in three episodes of Smallville

#5 - Chad Krowchuck plays Glen Woodburn the "blogger" who Lois gives her story to so it can "leak" online. He was in a 4th Season episode of Smallville.

#6 - David Paetkau, Playing military guy is the first person in Man of Steel to say "Superman" and then "That's what they're calling him!" Played in a Season 1 episode as a football player and then as Metropolis Police Officer Danny "Dan" Turpin in a Season 8 episode.
