Manafort Trial Thread

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort on Monday gave up his effort to challenge special counsel Robert Mueller in civil court.

Manafort has withdrawn his appeal of a judge's decision to throw out his civil lawsuit against Mueller, according to court filings.
"It is hereby stipulated and agreed by and between the parties that the (case) be voluntarily dismissed," the new filing said.

Saw this. Don't know what to make of it. Could just be a consolidation of resources to focus on the trial. Could be a losing appeal and he knows it'd be a waste of money. Could be the beginning of a long, beautiful cooperative relationship with Bobby. Hoping for option 3.

Hard to pay for a lawsuit and criminal defense when your assets are frozen.

An appeals court on Monday rejected Paul Manafort’s request to end his pre-trial detention ahead of the former Trump campaign chairman's second trial in Washington, D.C.

Wait a second! This trial is only about tax evasion and bank fraud, nothing to do with the campaign. Mueller had hoped Manafort would flip but he didn't.
The only reason Manafort committed tax evasion and bank fraud was to get enough money together to send to the NRA to get Donald Trump elected in 2016.

ED Va. is known as a rocket docket. Sentencing will probably take place at 5:00.

I had a case in the Western District of Wisconsin a few years back which prides itself on being just like EDVa. We had massive electronic discovery issues with millions of documents. Each side had document coordination specialists. We had a huge firm working around the clock, but the problem was that the trial attorneys did not have time to review the documents. Judge would not allow any extensions of time to complete discovery. It was the most stressful case I have ever worked on, bar none. Grateful that it settled.

Manafort sounds terrible. Can't believe he did this to his wife.

Made his wife go to orgies then got mad at her when she didn't have sex with other men.

This text exchange between his daughters is something.

“Where did he go wrong,” one of the daughters is said to ask about her “****ed up” father.
“mom thinks the power went to his head”
“with Ukraine”
“Right…that it has turned him into a moral-less ethic-less person”
“he is just power crazed…controling. obsessive.”
“He has no moral or legal compass”

2-3 weeks is what I'm hearing

You’re in the know? So tell us, why does Mooler give immunity to someone that didn’t register as a foreign agent to Russia while he’s after someone that did also? Is it because he’s after Trump?
Newsflash: Manofort won’t flip.
