Manipulated Mike: 0-2 at the negotiation table.

You're assuming that all teams start from the same level playing field. This is not so. It is going to take UT a lot more money to make it to the Final 4 than it will to take UNC. UNC is much more desirable. I would coach for them at half the price that I would coach at UT.
So, all Wofford has to do to make the Final Four is to pay their basketball coach 4 million dollars? Do you remotely realize how utterly silly your point is? What was George Mason paying Jim Larranaga when they made the Final Four?

Not pay their existing coach $4 Mil (plus $4 Mil is what I assumed because it is higher than they are currently paying). They have to set their budget at $4 Mil to get the same consideration by an elite coach that UNC would for offering $2 Mil.

Then the Memphis offer should be thrown out in assessing Pearl's worth. Next.

In a tournament with 64 teams, 1 underdog team making it to the final four every 4 years is an outlier.

The only job offer Pearl had was from Memphis. That's not an outlier, its the governing offer. Meet or exceed the offer if you want to keep the coach.

Out of how many schools that had openings?

What difference does that make? Clearly the UTAD is doing just fine. If an entity is making money, why should they pretend to suffer just to make people feel better

Which begs to ask, why does UT pay Summit one million/yr.

What are you talking about?

The Memphis program is comparible to the Tennessee program. That is the only opening for a job at a comparible school. Therefore was the only job that Pearl would possibly be interested in. Therefore their offer was the governing offer. Is that more clear? Ohh and sorry for getting you confused with Casey Clausen. It was a lame attempt at humor because I think his favorite saying was "umm what?"

I could make a twelve million dollar offer on your house, but that isn't the market value until the papers are signed. You are worth what you're most currently signed for.

How are Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia and Arizona not comparable to UT?

Actually, the market value of a home has more to do with the prices of comps in the area. If you bought my $166,000 home for $12 Mil, the value of the home is not $12 Mil. The only comp that we had to go by was Memphis' offer.

so tell me about the comps in an around Elvis' mansion.

The value of your home to you is whatever it sells for....the papers have to be signed.

No, because if you offer me $12 Mil for my home there's no way in hell that I would buy it back from you at the same price. I would take the money to be sure. But that's not the value of the home to me.
