Manning didnt win in Florida, do you think Clausen is therefore a better QB?

I think I stated plenty of times that I thought Clausen was one of the best qb's to ever play at UT. Better then Manning? maybe, maybe not. But when it was big game time, you didn't see Clausen fall on his face as much as we have seen Manning do it.

What about all the fumbles in the rain?

Are you sniffing glue again? Clausen was a good college QB, but come on . . .

Yeah, Manning never beat Florida. However, wasn't the defensive coordinator over there Bob Stoops? Stoops and Spurrier is a pretty good coaching tandem. Some of Clausens UF victories were against Zook. Also, how many times did Clausen beat Georgia? 0. I'm pretty sure Manning beat them 4 times. You can't compare two quarterbacks just by the way they played against a certain opponent, especially when said opponent has a completely different roster and coaches. Both Manning and Clausen were good at UT, but I don't think Clausen was better, even though he beat UF a couple of times.

Also, I'm pretty partial to Travis Stephens. He may not have been our best ever, but he really could run, especially considering his small size.

Yep, and how many heisman trophy votes did Casey Clausen get? And where was he picked in the NFL draft?

Here come the Manning shills. I knew when someone intimated that he didn't invent oxygen that they would come flying to his defense.

You and I both know there's a big difference between granting him God-like status and simply refuting the claim that Casey Clausen might have been better than he was.

I don't remember either one being a running back. :dunno:
A foot race between Manning and Clausen would be an epic.

Just admit it hate. You want people to say PM sucked and that he should be forgotten. He's the worst qb in Vol history. Do you feel better now?

That wouldn't be accurate. Jeff Francis was far worse than Manning.

Didn't work. My opinion on Manning (and his apologists) is cast in granite.

Just like the granite monument I had built for him in my front yard.

Also, I feel no need to apologize for a QB that has the second most wins of any QB in college football history.

I hope there are a large number of birds "doing their business" in your yard.

Only if their business is bowing in respectful reverence.

Good to see you're not one of those fans who irrationally deifies Manning.

I don't think he was some demigod, but I think you standards for a college QB are a little irrational if you Peyton Manning doesn't measure up as adequate. I'm not sure you would be satisfied if we had Joe Montana with John Elway and Dan Marino in reserve.

I'm stil waiting for someone to show me a post where I've stated Manning wasn't an adequate college QB. Most of my commentary has been directed at the Jonestownesque following he has among a faction of Tennessee fans.

People love the Vols, even after they graduate. Manning just so happens to be the most successful Vol in pro sports right now. A lot of people seem to feel the same way about Al Wilson.

That's funny. I don't see a plethora of #56 Denver jerseys when I'm in East Tennessee, nor do I hear people bitching about the Broncos not being on the Knoxville affiliates.
