I was listening to a radio show last night.
The host believes Manning will own ever major passing record in the NFL, except the ironman record for consecutive games held by Brett Favre, and will be considered the greatest QB ever when he retires. He thought if the colts can win a super bowl, he will already been discussed s the greatest QB ever.

Any thoughts?

Until he wins 2 Super Bowls, I think we'll have a split on that one.

His biggest problem is that his teams are no where near the caliber of a lot of the other really good teams, i.e. Aikman-Cowboys, Montana-49ers, Bradshaw-Steeler, Brady-Patriots.

While they were good, the thing those other guys had going for them were a) great defenses and b) tremendous supporting casts of coaches/players.

These Colts teams are not the league of those guys. That puts it all on him.

i'm really torn, but right now i'm leaning that manning isn't even the greatest colts qb of all time. that being said, I take tom brady over peyton manning and he doesn't even make your list?

wow, and I thought Bubby Brister had that distinction all wrapped up.

Manning will need to have a run like Elway had late in his career.

In my mind, Joe Montana was the perfect NFL QB.

P.S. - I'm a Falcons fan, but Michael Vick??

I should have included Brady, my bad.

I tend to look at these QB's by decade, who was they best while they played.

60's -Unitas
70's -Bradshaw
80's -Montanna
90's - Marino
00's - Manning

so either way you're still excluding brady? head to head means a lot.. and this crap about brady having so much around him.. look at the offense that manning gets to use. i know manning beat brady in the regular season this year, but he has to prove he can do it in the post-season. that being said, one mere victory still wouldnt' convince me. Super Bowls would. notice i used the plural form there

Yeah Brady had a great game against the Colts this year.

Manning is the greatest qb ever. He is not on the greatest TEAM ever which Tom Brady was with the Patriots dynasty.
