You said before you were 35. That means you were born in 1970 or 71.

Tarkington played for the Vikings from 61-66 & 72-78.

You formed some strong opinions at 5 to 7 years of age.
Exactly. His perfomance against the Raiders in the Super Bowl is one of my favorite childhood memories. The touchdown pass to Willie Brown was a thing of beauty.

Guys, Peyton has not had the defense support that Tom Brady or Joe Montana had. No other QB had total control of their offense, the way Manning does. He is a student of the game and damn near about to master it. The Superbowl does not define him being the best QB because he doesn't play LB,DB, S, or DL or on Special Teams.

You also said you give to UT athletics in very large numbers, and have more money than you'll ever spend in a lifetime. I took the LSAT and did very well, but opted for an MBA. Law School would have put you at 24-25 graduating. Becoming that good and completely financially independent even as a young lawyer is not an everyday norm.
It also doesn't hurt to have no dependents that you are financially responsible for. I'm the only person I have to pay for.

I want to sneak this in. I love the fact that every week experts say the Colts will lose this week because they cant stop the run. ah the have no losses and have not stoped the run SO STOP WITH THE RUN COMMENTARY

he also is the only one that keeps his defense on the field all the time. his quick strikes only hurt the D more. Brady and Montana possessed the skill of clock management. Something Peyton doesn't have. Last year's Bengals game for example. up by 6 i believe w/ 4 minutes to go, manning throws three str8 incomplete passes wasting 11 seconds. dumb dumb dumb

i'm a manning fan, for obvious reasons.

but to be in the class of an elway, montana or bradshaw...you need rings.

Montana, as much as i hated the guy, is the best qb to ever play the game.

when/if manning wins a SB or two...he's in that group for sure.

until then, he and Marino are sharing space at the same table.

I believe Dan Fouts and Jim Kelly are seated nearby.

Dan Fouts for sure...i think Jim is probably at his own table. all by himself. 4 straight super bowls. 4 straight losses. ouch. Fran Tarkenton could sit at that table too truth be known.

Your clock management comment is well taken, but scoring points too quickly is rarely seen as detrimental.
:lolabove: good point. playing with a lead for an NFL defense, any NFL defense, is usually a really good thing since it will usually change the opponents offensive scheme.

I don't rip Kelly too much for that. The first one was the only one in which you could argue the Bills were the better team. The Skins and the Cowboys were just too good for them.

Is this a question of whos the best QB or who is the most sucessful QB when it comes to Super Bowls.

If its hands down QB skills passing reading D's so on....Manning

If not it's not Manning

i kind of feel the same way...that bills/giants game was a great game, they had a chance to win it and lost it to no fault of Kelly, Thomas, Smith, Reed etc...they were a very good football team that year.

except when the colts play another good offensive team, it turns into a shootout and too often the other team tops manning. The best defense is simply keeping the other team's offense off the field. case in point, this year's lsu game

Clock management is for "girly men". Clock management is for inferior basketball teams before the shot clock. Clock management is for overmatched football teams who are scared to stay aggressive. Score early and score often.

Call me crazy, but I picked Aikman - I grew up watching him and even got his autograph when I was a kid, guess that kind of led to this decision. :)
