Manning vs. Brady

I have better things to do with my time then follow a team I have no connection to, simply because a former Vol plays for them...

I watch when it counts, in the playoffs. I can't say I have been impressed with Peyton beyond the Wild Card round.

You sure make a lot of assumptions:crazy:

Before the Titans moved into Nashville, there weren't many options to support a NFL team. I been a Colts for a while.

A true football fan can't get enough of football!!

Are you referring to the Bears team that needed fumbles and punts returned for a TD to beat a Cardinals team with a rookie playing QB??? :)

Seriously, until the Broncos met the Colts - they had given up the fewest TD's since a team did it back in the 50's or 60's?

The Broncos have played some great offensive teams (Patriots, Colts, St Louis, Kansas City) whereas the Bears haven't played the same caliber of teams. Denver WAS leading until they played the Colts.
You are not seriously throwing the Broncos-Chiefs game in there, are you? Stopping the Chiefs' offense the first week without Trent Green is not exactly praise worthy. Also, remind me again of what St. Louis has done this season?

Here's your reminder - St. Louis is 4th in passing; 4th in total yards; 4th in yards per game; 7th in yards per play; 9th in scoring...

You might want to get your facts straight before throwing out insults.

Insults? Right...

Also, take the Detroit game away from StL, and they have a very average offense this season.

If we're going to take away one game - then take away the Colts game and Denver is by far the best defense statistically.

BTW - UR right, insults was not the correct word - sorry...

Because Detroit gives up more than 30 ppg, so the fact that StL put up 41 on them is not that impressive.

Come on - give Denver some credit.

We are supposed to be arguing about Brady vs Manning - not Denver's defense.:)

Guys if it all goes on rings then we have to remember that Trent Dilfer has a ring. Would he be on anyone's list for QB? Also, do we really think Troy Aikman would have won 3 rings if he had not been on those great Dallas teams? Has a lot to do with the team don't you think?

The Patriots seem to lose offensive weapons every year. This year it was Deion Branch (former Superbowl MVP). Plus, their running game is about as solid as UT's. Brady still lights it up and wins games. I would not say that I have ever been a Brady fan, but I have to give the man his props. Dude is a winner.

Where is Hat? He must be doing something important not to get in on this thread before the 7th page hits. I hope he's O.K.

If Super Bowl rings define a quarterback, then I guess Ben Roethlisberger is a better qb than Manning. Give it a rest indeed. Manning is by far the better quarterback.

Good logic, I'll buy this agument all day. Having the best team does not always make you the best player at your position. (Tee Martin won a National championship and I don't think it made him better than Manning.) Remember, the Qb doesn't play defense, special teams, etc.

Manning threw 3 TDs against the Broncos. Brady threw a meaningless TD in the fourth quarter when Al Wilson, Champ Bailey, and company were relaxing on the sideline. Not saying that's an indication of who is better, but if you are hailing Brady as a tremendous QB, I think you should at least recognize that Manning was able to topple the Broncos, who had previously pounded the Pats.

Lawrence Maroney is a tremendous running back. I think he is currently near the top of the NFL in yardage. Add in a veteran stud in Corey Dillon (who was near the top of the league in rushing just two years ago) and they have one of the best RB tandems in the league.

I am quite sure that Manning has had plenty of games that look more impressive in the stat column. It proves nothing.

Manning led his team to victory and looked impressive doing it. Brady got pushed around like the rest of the QBs that have faced the Broncos. The Colts put up 34, while the Patriots put up only 7. Most importantly, Manning won. Brady lost. I think that is significant. Also, the Broncos struggled against New England's defense and only managed 17 points. They ran through Indianapolis, scoring 31, but still lost.

Switch the teams and see what you have.

The Patriots coached by Belichick won those Super Bowls. Great teams and well coached. Brady was and is a great QB.

The difference is that the Patriots were better than the Colts. They had arguably the defense in the league, a good running game, and an offense that didn't put everything on the QB.

Peyton has to carry the whole team on his back. That's not a recipe for winning it all. Right now they have the worst run defense in the NFL.

Manning through 16, then brady for the playoffs. :)

But seriously, Brady as of right now needs to be recognized for the rings.

Why do you throw out Montana when trying to prove a point about Manning and Brady? Montana compares very well to Brady. Neither were highly touted out of college. Neither had teams with vaunted running attacks. Both were helped along by solid (not outstanding) defenses. And, most importantly, both Montana and Brady could march their teams down the field for the win.

Manning is the exact opposite. He comes into games hot. He throws TDs early and often. Yet, he barely ever makes waves in the 4th quarter with a game on the line.

That being said, I would rather have a guy that can win ugly, then someone who puts up pretty statistics, yet has never shown the fortitude and composure to come back in the big game.
and Montana won how many rings with the Chiefs?

So - who would you take now. Brady's 4 INT's tonight (at home) and the loss or Manning. He played extremely well considering he had no time all night whereas Brady had an eternity to throw and still throw 4 INT's.
